However, I blame Disney movies, fairytale stories, books, folk stories, childhood games such as "House", and other stuf related to this phenomenon for making many girls and boys feel to have low self-esteem. All this stuff is soo stereotypical because it tells you that your are nothing without a man. So for you to get one, you must be beautiful and perfect and if you don't have a boyfriend, something must be wrong with you. Here, the implication is simple: fix it and see how they will come to you. Its sick! And God, Am I glad that they could finally make a movie like Mulan. Because it tells people that love, relationships, physical perfection, are not always everything in life and that there are other more important things you can do to feel better about yourself. Mulan saved her country and she definitely rejoiced for doing so. Mulan was pretty, intelligent, courageous, and above all, clever at the same time. But besides Mulan, there also other princesses that do way better things than getting themselves a guy such as Anastasia who is in search for her family as she is a lost princess, and Merida from Brave, who is a carefree girl who enjoys adventures out in the wild while her mother tries to get her into marriage, but Merida isn't ready for marriage yet.
And speaking about indoctrination, as kids, we watched all of these movies that reinforce these harmful ideas into our minds at a very young age. So much, that when we reach adulthood, its already impossible to clean our minds from these stereotypical ideas.
I don't know what you opinion is but that's how I see it.

Also, keep in mind that Mulan was told by the matchmaker at the very beginning of the movie "Too skinny. Not good for having children," instead of telling her "You're too fat! No one will like you!" Here, they are straying away from the stereotypical idea that we need to be rail-thin in order to be attractive and successful, and thus get a man. Why? Because in reality a woman needs to keep a healthy weight to indicate that she is fertile. So that's why it also has a feminist touch to it.
