Description
Belle is staying at Beasty-boys house, on and off while her Father is on business trips.
He goes on many trips and often, so she stays there often. probably has her own room.
Ariel picked Moby Dick
Rapunzel - The adventures of Robin Hood.
(You can almost spot them in their hands in comic nr 44 )
Admitting and dealing with reading and writing issues can be hard, reading and spelling in particular is still associated with intelligence or lack there of. It can easily be a sore point.
Here though, it’s just the two of them and sitting and listening to your beloved’s voice and having an excuse to look at them for an extended period of time, doesn’t sound so bad.

Thank-you; I've put a lot of thought into this for some time.
I also think (as I said before), that Belle's background would more closely mirror that of the original fairytale (but with a few understandable changes (as the fact that she's an only child is already established in Disney-cannon)).
If Belle's backstory in the 1991 Disney film, prior to her and her father moving to the village, more closely matched the original fairytale, then it would really help flesh-out Belle's character more; in her introduction, Belle-herself admits that she and her father are not native to the area ("Every morning just the same, Since the morning that We came, To this poor provincial town"):
* In the original storyline, Belle/Beauty (and her siblings) was mentioned as having the best education that her wealthy father could afford ("he spared no cost for their education, but gave them all kinds of masters"), and that Belle/Beauty not only liked to read but was also very accomplished ("she read, played on the harpsichord, or else sung whilst she spun" (see also; www.pemberley.com/janeinfo/ppt… )), and was praised for it. If her backstory in the 1991 Disney film, prior to moving to the village, matched-up with the original fairytale, it would, satisfactually, explain an educated young woman, in a community of anti-intellectual bibliophobes/xenophobes ( en.wiktionary.org/wiki/bibliop… & en.wiktionary.org/wiki/xenopho… ).
* As mentioned above, it would help to flesh-out Belle's character more if reading wasn't her only hobby/leisure activity; the fairytale also mentions her enjoying other cultural pursuits; music, singing, etc. While Belle does sing in the 1991 Disney film (and the live-action adaptation), what with it's Broadway musical-theme, they're just used as vehicles for exposition; if Belle were heard singing songs that already exist (like Cinderella singing "Lavender's Blue" ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lavender… ), a real-life folk song/lullaby, in the 2015 live-action remake of "Cinderella"). And other accomplishments such as art, history, philosophy, Foreign Languages, ect. all of which would help Belle to re-acclimatize Prince Adam (formally 'the Beast') to life as a human, as an adult (and prepare him for his duties as a prince and a ruler, now that he is of age, at 21 (history, politics, statecraft, diplomacy, etc. ( www.deviantart.com/art/Studyin… ))).
Don't get me wrong; being a bibliophile-myself ( en.wiktionary.org/wiki/bibliop… ), I have no problems with Belle loving to read, but besides that, they've really made her limited; back in the original fairytale, Belle/Beauty is described as enjoying a myriad of other leisure activities, such as theatre (such as a shadow puppet theatre); she had the very best of culture at her fingertips and wanted for nothing (save for the company of her family). But, now, it's like they're saying 'Once upon a time, there live a girl named Belle. She loved to read, all day long. The End'; see what I mean?
I get that, in the village, what with it's very limited venues of culture (i.e. county dances), it is understandable that Belle, a bibliophile, would have turned even more to books as a form of escapism ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escapism ); but, once she was sequestered within the Beast's castle (and the proverbial ice between the two of them had been broken), there were so-many other things to enjoy (which do get touched-upon in the brief comicbook run ( disney.wikia.com/wiki/Beauty_a… ), opera, etc.). Disney really wasted some perfectly good opportunities there .
What do you think?

I like to write a lot when I start a story there are three things I do that always help me finish; 1 research my topic so I can answer almost any question, you've got that covered, 2 know how the story will end, I can focus on the build up and story telling if I know at least the basic outcome that I want, 3 know my characters, I generally do this first I sit down and write out an entire bio sheet for them everything from their name to their favorite color to their greatest fears and dreams, when I know the characters knowing what they would do in whatever situation I have designed is as easy as predicting what my siblings might do. I also really like doing NANOWRIMO, it sounds like a bad idea at first but what it does more than anything is teach you how to finish a story which is the first thing anyone who writes should learn plus they have writing tips and advice from some of the best authors out there.
Sorry, couldn't help myself.

If he has dyslexia, wouldn't he be getting support at the school?

As someone who has dyslexia. You don't want to have it, it's so linked to being seen as stupid so you pretend with all your heart.
Also dyslexia isn't going away with practice. You can get better but your brain doesn't work the way others do so you have to find was to deal with it and get to a acceptable level.

Does Belle help with his homework for his other classes?
Did he choose his high school electives ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elective… ) to match hers, too? (Both so that she could help him with his school work, AND just because she's there)?

Morloth88 In reply to Moon-Shadow-1985 [2017-02-23 22:54:50 +0000 UTC]
Okay, let's do this.
He is Dyslexic. He isn't good at spelling. He isn't good at reading. This does not make him stupid.
This means his learning techniques will most likely not be based on reading. It's probably listening and doing.
Listening in class will get him a long way. Sure he'd do better with a tutor but I think he's too stubborn for that.
He is also proud. He will not want to be seen as stupid. People who can't read or spell are still seen as stupid. It's just ingrained and people will make judgements, consciously or no.
So He may put on a cool persona who doesn't care, but he is Beast, You obsess over the movie and story. You know he cares. He cares an awful lot. Hence the staying in doors for years and years...
He pays attention while pretending he doesn't just so he can keep pretending he is cool and don't let people know he is "stupid". Which he feels he is.
"but he has trouble reading right here, in this comic"
Yes. Out load. His disability, amplified a hundred by the insecurity of reading out loud, and the knowledge that he will get it wrong at some point and therefore getting it wrong directly. Then amplified again because it is his crush who is listening and, let's amplify his insecurity again bu his crush being a very academic person who loves reading and will think he is stupid by failing to read.
Well in his mind anyways. But he is backed in to a corner and though few people know how big that moment is (including Belle), right there, in the comic, he is being real vulnerability with her by actually trying to read out loud for her and showing his flaw.
So he doesn't have a tutor and he doesn't mind "just passing" he fights for that. But he looks like he doesn't care cuz he is too proud. Spelling programs makes things lots easier and you'd be surpriced how we dyslexics use google and even google translate to help us spell. It sure is a very slow process but it gets things done and it minimises the misspellings.
Now that you have read this. And consider what this conversation thread have told you.
Please realise the effort and time, I, a dyslexic had to put in writing this out for you.
I am a VERY slow and bad writer, in a second language. It isn't easy for me to answer all your questions. Physically.

So do I, so that's what I saw when I made this but I don't mind other interpretations.
Practice and support is great and we can get far but it never goes away. I mess up sooo often and I read and write quite a bit.
I gets in the way and since it such a small thing one sorta forgets and then I mess up and I hate it.

It still annoys my sister too. She got her Bachelor's Degree last year by taking online courses. I was her "editor" for the whole thing. She'd send me an essay and I'd check it for grammar, spelling and make sure she answered all the questions. Some days I'm sure she wanted to beat me. But she got through it
