I love the style you used and the dynamic! Very cool adaptation...only thing bothering me is Toothless' wings are actually black...not red...


Would you mind explaining your thought process as of doing them this color? Just curious.

It was black at first but it made the painting look very monotone? I know of artists that can make even black colonies look vibrant but I wasn't able to capture that while still maintaining visual interest in the image. It was a sacrifice I had to make, and made me study harder on how dreamworks makes toothless look interesting. Planning another painting, so I can rectify this niggle.

This is really, really gorgeous!Β  It has a grittier edge to it, showing Toothless as fierce (he's cute, but he's also powerful and dangerous when he needs to be).Β  I really like this.
