Description 777 Archives > Profiles > Celestial > Guardian > Eclipse

Last Updated: 2 Months Ago

A thoroughly unexpected addition to the team - and as the latest 777 discovered, a valuable ally. One of the latest to join the team in the fight against Emperor, she is also the oldest… She is in fact, a celestial guardian (or possibly a goddess…) looking over the galaxies in the universe. Her true name is Rosalina – yet once she had joined the fight, she went under the name "Eclipse". Much like 777 and 666, Eclipse has a powerful suit of her own – yet the StarTech Suit boasts little technology within. It is actually more like an extension of Rosalina's celestial magic abilities, channeled through the body suit and precisely placed conduits (Specifically, the headband and the hands and feet). The material used to make the suit is a mix of celestial magic and scientific prowess. More specifically, it is made of an unusual type of block existing in some galaxies, which at first appear to be floating on its own – but when a living thing goes near it, the block snaps to a specified location – often along with other blocks, making structures or even platforms. As a result, Rosalina can make storage – and getting in and out of the suit, as simple as a wave of her wand (She mainly uses her wand for her magic).

Eclipse rarely uses physical attacks, but she can take advantage of the StarTech Suit to do just that. The most prominent features are very large gauntlets and boots covering her normal gloves and boots. She can use her magic to project the gauntlets and boots, so she can grab, punch, throw or kick objects or enemies from a long distance. The weight of all of this equipment is certainly substantial, yet it seems so light when seeing Eclipse in action; no doubt the result of her abilities over gravity and levitation.

One other ability the suit gives is to manipulate the material of the suit to create items. So far, Eclipse has created barriers, hand-held shields, spears, swords and other handheld melee weapons. However, she has preferred making large throwing stars propelled by her celestial magic abilities.

A seldom seen – and very dangerous ability was for the suit to harness the chaotic energy of certain stars and use it to augment Eclipse's abilities. Yoxter called this ability "Supernova", and much like the real astronomical occurrence, it is powerful and extremely dangerous. Eclipse's Supernova Mode gives her near-absolute control over fusion and gravity, while also severely altering the appearance of the suit – as if it was on fire. Supernova's power grows exponentially even while idle, meaning Eclipse must vent all of it so her mode will not go critical and collapse… And turn Supernova Eclipse's abilities into something akin to a black hole… Yoxter notes that Black Hole Eclipse is likely even more powerful – and more precarious than Supernova. Fortunately, Rosalina has no intention of exploring that possibility.

It was quite clear for the reason why Rosalina wanted to join 777 and her team – just as the 9th 777 (Peach) had feared, Emperor had gained enough power (or more appropriately, regained – see the Emperor Archive Entry for more details) to conquer the galaxy – and worse, probably destroy their home planet. After a fierce confrontation with Emperor himself, Rosalina was seriously injured – but now more determined to stop Emperor. With the help of the recently defected Yoxter, she recovered and had gained the StarTech suit to help 777 and her friends fight Emperor. Rosalina rarely has a hand in the matters of mortals – unless there is serious danger, which has happened before. Naturally, Emperor scheming to destroy her home planet and conquer the universe was a part of her motivation this time. After Emperor was defeated, she uses the StarTech Suit far less often, but kept it with her in a special block in case of emergency.

Peach's Notes:
Although Yoxter was mainly responsible for the manufacture of the StarTech Suit, Rosalina had a major part in its construction. She gathered and crafted the special mineral. The mineral itself is an interesting anomaly of the universe. As mentioned before, the material is based on a kind of block that exists in some galaxies (The Space Junk Galaxy, for example), that at first, appears to be floating - but when a living thing goes near a certain space, the block "snaps" to that location in space. According to Yoxter's research, he theorizes that these blocks are multi-dimensional, i.e. existing in many realities at once (Rosalina has yet to confirm this). It's quite complicated, but here is how it mainly works; Say for instance, a block exists on top of a planetoid in a dimension different than ours – and in our dimension, the block is floating some distance away from it. When a person or other living thing steps near where the block is supposed to be in the other dimension – the block in our dimension somehow detects something is near it, and travels near the speed of light, snapping right where it is meant to be in the other dimension. That way, the subject can walk on top of the block. As the subject walks away from the block's intended space, the block moves away, once again floating in space. There are a few instances of multiple blocks creating platforms and basic structures for living things to traverse.

And while I am on the subject of Eclipse: I decided to investigate the enigma of the woman behind the suit; Rosalina. I have met her before, but it appears she has known about the 777 lineage for some time. Travelling through the cosmos in a specialized ship – the Comet Observatory, she looks over life in the universe. Why she has watched my family for generations is open for interpretation – yet it should also be noted that she has never aged herself. It is likely that her occupation as celestial guardian has granted her everlasting youth, necessary as the universe is after all, near infinite. She may be hundreds, or thousands of years old. Also of note is my own uncanny resemblance to her… There are far too many similarities in our physical appearance for this to be a mere coincidence. I am open to the possibility that Rosalina… may be a far distant ancestor of my family. She once lived on my home planet a very long time ago… And her mother may have possibly been one in my family. According to the family records, there was one case in which one had died of a serious illness – and her daughter disappeared some years later… Rosalina's recollection of her life before becoming a celestial guardian nearly matches this. This could mean Rosalina was also royalty in her past – a fellow princess I guess. I suppose I will not be able to add more to this in my own time… Until I find more supporting information.

A quick psychological observation (i.e. meeting her in person) did give me a good impression of her personality. Although a bit strange at first (since she has lived for a particularly long time – in space), she is certainly a warm, kind, intelligent (She's… almost divine) and very maternally charged individual – thanks in part to those she takes care of. The Lumas, a curious kind of star creatures, who can create planets and even galaxies! Rosalina, aside from her role as celestial guardian, is also the adoptive mother to these little creatures, taking in every newborn Luma until they are grown enough to become stars or galaxies. The way they always treat her as their "Mama" (to the point where she even reads stories to the young ones!) is particularly… heartwarming... Of course, she is also protective of these "star children" when danger arises, using her starship as a safe haven for the Lumas. It should be noted that they were particularly frightened when Rosalina was fighting (and nearly bested by) Emperor himself when he began his plans to conquer the galaxy.

On a personal note… And this isn't something that should not really be put in the record, but… She reminded me of my own mother… It was from the way she took care of the children – and, of course, the way she dealt with the loss of her own mother. Naive at first, since we lost them at a young age, but where Rosalina handled her loss with contemplation when she got older, mine was with anger…
