Edit: Thanks a lot for the DD, and the favs and comments______________
Made for ^Mistress-Jaeden big head challenge .
30 colors, way too much time. (Yes, I saw the "cram as many colors as possible" line, but when I do that, my mouth starts twitching.)
A gigantic THANKS to the regulars and less regulars visitors of the Digital dolls chat , as well as to ~Fyin , who suffered through weeks of my constant whining and complaints, and yet endured it with an admirable restraint while keeping me motivated.
------------------------------------
The character: Zira of the scarlet sands, from the fantasy novel I'm writing. (Warning to my only reader: spoilers ahead)
Zira is the high priestess and ruler of a religious tribe worshipping Khalida, the goddess who created the earth and all its creatures. They are peaceful people, living in a small fertile area between a desert and dangerous mountains.
The main belief of the tribe is that Khalida died after creating the world, in a sandy cave near their village. It is said that her blood turned the sand of the cave a deep scarlet, and that she would be reborn it the same place in the form of an immortal newborn. To prove his divine origin, the child had to be able to survive in the cave for a week, without being fed or tended to.
As you can imagine, this belief led to quite an amount of abandoned babies - unwanted ones, or simply children of poor mothers thinking they could get away with hiding in the cave to take care of their newborn until the test was completed, only to discover that the priests kept the children under close watch.
Many infants starved to death until a true immortal - an Everlasting girl - was finally born.
Zira was the daughter of a teenage girl who died in childbirth, sick and weak after her pregnancy. Magic, in the story's universe, is highly toxic to humans, and causes mutations and premature ageing. Carrying a magical child usually leaves the mother severely weakened, and the damage is way worse when the baby is powerful. Conceiving an Everlasting is in most cases a death sentence.
Zira was raised as a deity born again, and obviously grew as the worst spoiled brat you can possibly imagine. Time eventually taught her patience and quietness, and she turned into a proper protector and leader for her tribe.

Can I curse?
This is just too perfect for polite words lol.
The braids are fantastic, I can see every detail, it looks like you actually stared at someones head for hours to get an understanding of how it went!
The ends of the braids where they tie up look exactly like that! I cant get over it!

And I just won't do braids at that size again.

This is one of the best, totally. You've managed to keep color count low without sacrificing quality, too, which no one else seems to have managed. There is a bit of banding at the collar, though; adding one more shade might help smooth that out, and make it look less obviously dithered. (:

I could probably allow myself two more colors, and maybe I'll fix that collar someday, and throw some details on it while I'm at it... Once my eyes start working properly again. I see squares. I dream of squares.

My poor screen can attest that I worked a lot on this piece, too. XD It got some image persistence of the profile. He deserves some rest.
