While one Tree Kangaroo had climbed to the highest spot of her enclosure to peer at her neighbor, this guy was just minding his own business.

Species: Goodfellow’s Tree-Kangaroo (Goodfellowboomkangoeroe)

Latin name: Dendrolagus Goodfellowi

Originates from New Guinea.

Current status: Endangered

…They are long-tailed, bear-like Marsupials living in trees.

…It is also at times called the Ornate Tree-Kangaroo.

…Tree-Kangaroos are actually quite different from terrestrial Kangaroos; their legs are not disproportionally large in comparison to the forelimbs. The forelimbs are actually strong and end in sharp claws that help them climb trees.

…They are slow and clumsy while on the ground, moving at walking pace and hopping somewhat awkwardly, leaning forward to balance their weight on their heavy tail.

…The Goodfellow’s Tree-Kangaroo has extraordinary jumping abilities and have been known to jump from trees to the ground at heights of 30 ft or more – without harm.
