Rika is the daughter of the king, Cyrus, of the Capital. She comes across Kye as a pup when playing around the outskirts of the capital and quickly befriends him.
She began to spend almost every day sneaking out to play with Kye, which was looked down upon by Capital residents as Kye was a stranger and not much was known of him.
As she got older, she began to see Kye as more than just a friend.

When Kye was savagely beaten by Kato, leaving him close to death, she cared for him and lived away from the Capital for a year.
During this time, Sora, their daughter, was born. Ultimately they decided that Kye and Sora would have to leave the Capital, as everything they had done was forbidden and there was a possibility of Kye and Sora being killed. As Kye left with Sora, Rika returned to the Capital to take her place as a noble once more and have all attention focused on her as Kye and their daughter escaped.

Because of her obvious sadness upon her return, residents of the Capital, including Kato, believed that the reason for her disappearance was because Kye had died. She let them believe this, but never said otherwise.
