Acerbus (codename "ACER") is a robot hitman that comes from a world that has made extreme advances in ai and robotic technology.

He was manufactured by the Wormwood(TM) Company, one of the front runners in the bot-making business. They pride themselves on traditional Christian values--well, whatever that means for a society that's already far-removed from any God at this point--which really boils down to their product line's "free-will" feature.

Despite their inherent popularity, there has been much criticism against the Wormwood(TM) Company RCs (Robotic Companions), though most of it comes from AI Traditionalists, whose viewpoints are typically seen as extremely outdated. Turn of the century, people. The robots aren't going to take over the world. Although there are some valid complaints to be heard out: for example the somewhat rare personality and emotional module dysfunction observed in RCs.

Most RCs are assigned a default personality at "conception." The most common traits included with the personality module are: Kind, Helpful and Optimistic. You may also order custom-made traits for a more personalized RC, and although it is a bit spendy, you can save on your next purchase by signing up for a rewards card. But what happens when an RC does not receive a personality module?

We know that humans start off as babies. Typical mindless creatures, though eager to learn more about this new world we're suddenly dropped into. As we grow our personalities develop based on our experiences in life. Most of us turn out just fine, but some of us? Yeah, I don't wanna talk about it either.

Let's just say it's kind of like that but even worse.

...And that Acerbus is one of the few RCs that was born without a personality module.

Oh boy. Let's just say that it took a while to get to this point.

Acerbus is like that one higher-up we all know. Everyone respects him, calls him sir, makes him his morning coffee, brings him donuts, makes that little small-talk that you *really* hate doing, but liking him? Completely out of the question. But he's not strict and he's not your boss and you don't have to grovel for his attention. He's just really fucking scary and you REALLY don't wanna piss him off even more than he already is. Just. Be. Nice. And. Move. Along. Thank. You. Very. Much. Sir.

So... How did he even end up this way?
To make a long story very, very short, the Employees at Wormwood(TM) Company are not the nicest people. Really not the nicest people. Like, seriously, they're fucking assholes. Impatient assholes. They put on a face, you know? All corporations do it!

So growing up around two-faced, impatient, pissy assholes kinda just turns you into one--except Acerbus only has one face which is his resting bitch face.

Unfortunately, he's very good at his job soooo you can't exactly get rid of him. Politicians, crime families, nightclubs, celebrity security guards--they love him. Well-- oh, you get the picture.

Has a complicated (and suspiciously homoerotic) relationship with Dasdtür.
