I was getting pretty nervous. The expedition was getting uncomfortably close to the Wolf Nebula. Wolf had been the location of a ferocious battle between the Empire and the Markovians about 500 years ago, and ever since any ship entering the area had been ripped apart by the remains of the Markovian defense system. When I asked about it in the ship's social media forum, the Captain came to meet me in person. He told me "Don't worry, we have an ace up our sleeve.", and led me into the cargo bay. There, in the darkness, stood the Markovian navigator, in a trance, communing with the remains of the old Archipelago, guiding the ship through an otherwise hostile space. It must have worked, because not only did we survive, but we found a number of valuable codices and artifacts. The Markovian, for her part, got a large pile of cultural items from the doomed archipelago. All-in-all, a pretty successful trip.
