I was supposed to have done this months ago for my friend Troy... this is his lineart for the card game Legend of the Five Rings. He gave me permission to color his sketches and maybe we could get production work with AEG making card art if we submitted some samples that they liked.I think this is a Scorpion Clan assassin, but I can't tell. Troy says that the colors I chose do not represent any of the clans lol. Oh well, I could've sworn they were Scorpion colors.

thank you! he actually does love it, the color thing was just a lil something he said for my benefit cuz i don't play L5R at all so i would've felt like a total jackass if i continued to make up colors and such for all my L5R art XD

Well, your colouring is... amazing, that is for sure. I've looked at this bunches of times. Haven't really been able to comment though. And I suppose I still have very little to say. At least nothing of interest. I will just gush over the hair instead.
Normally, I am not a huge fan of white-haired characters.. But you coloured is so fucking well! The shine (which forms a heart at the top of his head!!!).. the smoothness.. I want to touch it.

you're colouring is fantastic, great atmospheric rendering and tonal variety, its fantastic. well rendered and realised.
only thing that confuses me is his (lack of) mouth or what is covering it.

yea, i agree about the mouth thing, but Troy drew him that way, so i just colored him as i saw it. Troy later told me that he was a Scorpion clan assassin and apparently all Scorpions wear masks (d'oh!) and have black hair

Oh my GOD *___*!!! The REALISM! The smooth colors and pose...KYAAAAAA!!!! *DIES* I adore the red highlights here, and the details designs and shinyness are just amazing TT! Good luck with AEG...making card art sounds like it'd be a ton of fun ^_^! ^_^!

My favorite part would probably have to be the light reflecting off of his hair, and how the background goes from a positive light, to such a dark black. It fits perfectly! Bravo! :3

Amazingly smooth work again..... your colouring is stunning! Is there anywhere I would be able to see the sketch?
The hair is just so silky, and the use of light contrasting with the darker bottom half.....very nice work.
