A highly speculative reconstruction of the Molnar and Wiffen (1994) theropod. Known only from a toe bone from the Campanian to Maastrichian Tahora Formation in the northern North Island of New Zealand, this enigmatic theropod is of highly uncertain placement, though both Molnar and Wiffen (1994) and Agnolin et al. (2010) noted that it seems to share the most characteristics with allosauroids, the latter making comparisons with carcharodontosaurids, though we don't know for sure, and won't know, until more material is hopefully unearthed. It could turn out to be something completely different! Because there's a pretty good chance that it's the youngest known carcharodontosaurid, I was inspired by Concavenator to create some quilled arms, and by both Concavenator and Acrocanthosaurus to provide a some neural spines, here in a weird back crest that's adorned by display feathers.
