A guide to the RWBY visual novel fan game JPDE.
Telling you what you need to get, go and do to get on the right route to 100% the game.
If you're wondering what a JPDE is, it's a free AU (alternative universe) visual novel based out of the web series RWBY made by a guy named Meinos Kaen and his team.
Also, there is a change that the requirements might have changed with the updates and I didn't noticed, so if you follow what's written in this guide but haven't got the cutscene then please tell me so that I can go figure out what changed.
And if you have a Discord account, then you can go to JPDE official Discord to find another guide to this game.

Just a heads up, as of today only the game's main story is completed. There are still many routes to be finished.
And there are three slightly different endings. Those endings being Ruby's ending, Weiss's ending, and Yang's+Raven's ending. To get one of those endings, you need to get all of their dates. So you need to choose one of those three with each playthought.
The game gets updated once a month (unless some real life issues happen), adding dates bit by bit until it will one day be done.
Side note!
As you may have noticed, this guide isn't up to date.
That's because I made the decition to wait for a big update to happen first and then update this instead of updating the guide with each "smaller" addition.
So I'll update this once... I don't know... Blake's ending is added.
Other side note!
The newest version of JPDE has three new dates that aren't yet written in this guide.
Those dates being:
- Enabler (Ruby + Yang) 1st event
- Peach 2nd event
- Neon 2nd event
Down in the comments section the requirements to these new dates were written by another fan of the game.

Yeah, for some reason the option that was there to finish Velvet's route isn't there anymore since version 2.19.
And my only guesses is that the maker of the visual novel messed up somewhere and no one pointed it out to him yet, or the requirements changed and I hasn't figured them out yet.
Hopefully it's the latter.
I'll try to figure it out later but for now, as far as I know, Velvet's route is incompletable.

So, I found out that you can actually get Cinder's third event without even going through her first and second events after day 131. Is this a bug or unique just to me?

I wouldn't say a bug, it might be just a oversight. Like, the trigger for that event might not be coded the right way. And Meinos doesn't know that cause no one play tested the game that way.
Or it might just be intentional, like how you can do Evenly's and Penny's events out of order.
I'll check in a later date if I can also get Cinder's third event without getting her first and second events to see if that's part of the game.

Sure thing. And btw, the updates on 2.18 said that Neo and Cinder complementary ending is unlocked, but I can't seem to get it. I guess only Pyrrha's complementary ending in the game right now?

There are four complementaries. The four being Neo, Cinder, Pyrrha and Coco. You need to get the four events to trigger Neo, Cinder and Pyrrha complementaries but you only need the first two Coco events to get her complementary.
What they do:
Cinder's complementary so far does nothing in version 2.19. My guess is that it will affect things when we reach the "volume 3 finale" part of the story.
Coco's complementary doesn't work. If you unlock Coco's complementary all you get is a "error" screen after David reads his letter. My guess is that Meinos messed the code in some way or he ran out of time to put Coco's part in.
Neo's complementary is a dance with her DURING the grant dance, and I think before Ruby's dance. And I think it's missible if you pick a different option besides the one that makes David notice Neo. And a bonus scene of her "talking" with Roman about getting back to the underground hideout that RWBY finds in the end of Volume 2. If you missed her dance, I remember her option was on the buttom of a list after David and Ruby walked down the stairs.
And Pyrrha's complementary is her's and David's first dance and two bonus scene. One of Cinder finding out Pyrrha has multiple personality disorder in the JPDE canon and a other scene of her arguing with her other self.

Ahhh, so I'm not crazy... I tried Cinder and Coco several times with no results. I guess I must have missed Neo somehow...
One more question for this patch, how do you get Kali?

I remembered during the grand dance, when David was walking around talking to his team and May, a option disappeared. I don't remember if that was Neo's bonus dance or not, I just remember reloading a save and taking that disappearing option first.
So, just load a save that was a day or two before the dance, if you have saved before that, and pay attention to the options the game give you during the dance.
And about Kali.
I'm not 100% sure about this. But I don't think she's actually in version 2.19.
I've made sure to get Blake's four events the moment that I could but I never was able to find any scene with Kali.
So it's either:
A) Kali's sprites are done and ready to be used, but Meinos wasn't able to finish her scene so he'll put her in the game's story in the next update.
Or B) Kali's scene is a timed event, like Winter and Tai Yang's first scene, and I missed it cause I have no idea what the requirements are and where to look.
I think it's option A cause stuff like this happened before, a character or alternative costume not being in the game cause Meinos ran out of time. And because the game also have sprites for two other new grimms besides the one we see in the end of the 2.19 update, but they're not used cause the story hasn't reach the point where JPDE fight them.
And since the few LPs that Let's play this game didn't uploaded a video with Kali, I'm 80% sure Kali is unattainable for now.
So... We will have to wait for version 2.20 to meet Kali Milfadonna.

Yeah, I just hoped that Meinos communicate to us better about what's available and what's an upcoming feature.
There are just a lot of things incomplete there even though it's stated in the changelog, like Yang's dance sprite is half-finished.
Best mom in RWBY had to wait. I wonder how would Blake react to seeing her mother in years? That's the kicker!

Well. Meinos is working on the programing part of JPDE alone, so I'm willing to give him a pass once in a while. But yeah, I wish he did a better job at telling us what's part of the new corrent version of the game and what's to come in the next. Heck, in this update he didn't told us that there was a WhiteRose event. I only found out about it once I've noticed that there was a new artwork of a angry Ruby and Weiss inside the game folders.
And about how Blake would react. I would say she would get shocked, confused and not knowing what to do or say. Maybe even hide and run away if she see her mom but notice that she didn't saw her.
But that's what I think canon Blake would do, can't say if Meinos will change things in his canon like he did with Yang/Raven/Tai family mess.
Oh, I just remembered something.
Before David and friends enter the cave to fight Human Boss, you're given a list of "who you want to talk in case things goes south".
If you have all four of Neo's events then you can send Neo one last message. And I think this is needed to get her complementary bonus dance.

I think they are for Neo cause Neo and David "talk" about his "I think I may die so here's my honest thoughts" message before the bonus dance.
I'm not sure if all of the messages in the mines are 100% necessary. I just assumed they are and took it. Cause sending a message in the mines is a free action while you can only talk to one member of team RWBY in the mines.
And one more thing.
I've talked with Meinos on twitter, just a few questions, and I learned this.
Discord is the way to go. Cause there you can talk with other JPDE players and give each other notes on what to do.
Meinos has now a partner in the programming part of things.
And Meinos is starting a second visual novel, this one being about My Hero Academia. You're be able to date the characters in a normal non-polygamy relationship.
I'm not going to get Discord just for one fan game, even if I like it, but if you already have Discord then you'll learn more there then with just me and my guide.

Oh, Discord? I don't really have a good experience with Discord in general, and the very nature of Discord means that any conversation is just going to be buried under a mountain of chats. Maybe I should go there and petition the fans to revive the Reddit page for JPDE. I'll have to look into it.
Speaking of Reddit, why don't you publish this page to JPDE subreddit? I'm sure you'll get some traffic to your dA page and help some new players, too!

Yeah, I tried Discord once. Didn't like it, so I didn't get it for my pc.
But there they have their own guide and other stuff. Like a file that tells you how much HP the enemies in JPDE have.
Just saying, it's a option if you already have that thing installed.
And about Reddit. I don't really use it or care about it. I don't hate it, it just never "clicked" with me.
And I don't really care how much traffic my dA gets. I'm not trying to get famous, I'm just a random dude that sometimes makes stuff. If a lot of people like my stuff, great. If no one cares for my stuff makes, that ok too. I just make a few things once in a while and upload it here cause some may find it neat. And if no one does, it doesn't make a difference to me.

But in case you see this before the update. No, there are no new routes in version 2.19.
Just two new events. Cinder's 4th event and a bonus WhiteRose event.

Ok. I haven't played version 2.19 yet, so I'll go and check if anything changed and come back with a answer in one or three days from now.
But before that. Just to make sure. Did you do everything that was on this list about Velvet's route?
After the Velvet's second event and Day 58, did you go to the laundry and meet Coco in her casual clothes, then talked with Penny about the 2 on 2 fight, and then went back to the laundry room to talk with Coco about Velvet in that order?

Ok. I got the 2.19 version and played it and I got good news and bad news.
The good news is that I know what the issue is. The option that you need to click on to continue Velvet's route is being pushed off screen cause Meinos added a lot of alternative customes. Something like this could have happen in earlier version of the game if someone got a bunch of the dates on one playthought.
The bad news is that there is nothing I or you can do to fix this oversight. Sorry.
So, you now have three options.
A) Wait a month and hope someone told Meinos about this and he fixed it for version 2.20.
B) Go and get version 2.18 where this oversight didn't happened yet.
Or C) Crack open the game's code and edit it so that the list isn't as big.

Where is the information about Penny's third event (third date)?

Well, here's the think about Penny's route.
As of now Penny has three events/dates but she doesn't have a "third date" in the normal sense.
She has "1st date (A)" and "1st date (B)". And you only need Penny's "1st date (A)" to get the second date.
And I'm assuming you have done the date that involved Weiss and the date that involved Ruby.
If I assumed correctly, the "third event/date" that you're looking for is "1st date (B)".

Hi ya! First of all, thank you for making this guide! You would think that fandom as big as RWBY should already had several guides, especially knowing only 2 Visual Novel Game exist.
Second, I think you might have some mistake: Yang is unlocked in Day 3, Weiss is at Day 4, and Blake at Day 8. Kinda a problem for people who want to plan ahead their route choices.
Third, are you planning to create the full calendar on days with main event aka days where you can't choose what to do? It would help to plan out routes immensely!
I think it becomes my personal challenge right now to hit as many character as possible. I managed to hit 7, though that's because all of them doesn't have full route created yet.
