Description Thought the color version worked so nice so I had to post that to.

I did a new render today and tried something that I never done before, render with Spectral Natural ... wow what a difference.
I'm rendering the same image without spectral and will show the difference later.

I'm very happy with the way light actually worked out in this one.

Made in Daz Studio - Iray Render - PS color

This would definitely work very well as a classic film noir b/w scene, but the color version is outstanding. So many nuances and details, so perfectly lit! One of the most realistic renders I have ever seenΒ  Β

Thank you very much!!
I prefer the color version myself, but my intension when I started out was a B&W.

Thanks dear you,

Yes it came out very good finally, I think the spectral settings made a huge difference to the render, specially the small details like the window water drops and all the good it did on his skin and other details.

The idea to start with was a black and white, but I also think the color version is better.

Much as I love noir, I'm partial to the color version. Awesome lighting and pose.

Although the setup literally cries for a black and white, the color version has much more impact. There are some b&w settings in Photoshop, ON1 and Nik Collection, each designed for more drama, but I think you hit it already with the color version.

I totally love the colour version! One thing that bugs me here is, that the gun is almost black and it's easy to overlook at the first glance over the image.Β  I would suggest some additional rim light or some other light to make the gun pop a bit more. Maybe changing the material to chrome would make a hell of a difference. Or maybe it's just me Β
WhatΒ  isΒ Spectral Faithful? Never heard of it, the colours are just brilliant!

Thank you very much.

Yes I agree with the gun I actually went back into photoshop and gave it some more light. Took it down first because of all the fireflies that was in the render. The gun is in chrome, original gun was black but i re-shaded it.

I always do postwork in photoshop and work with tones and colors so this is not what came out of DS, but you will see what I found out.

I'm putting up a comparison render and will try to explain the spectral setting and things I found out that was very interessting

Yeah, I also use photoshop for postwork, but the better the original render the more you can get out of it in PS.

This is really cool! I already gave it a try and the results are definitely much better! Thanks a lot for the tip.

You're welcome, for me it made such a difference so I had to share the things I found out.
Gonna try it with different light sources and see what will happen. The render I did had no HDRI source so that will be the next test, I will also try it with the Sun only render.

Please share if you get new knowledge.
