Carl (thinking): "Well... At least they haven't bothered to search for my stored items or overseas accounts."
Panel 3: Carl picking up the newspaper and a cup of coffee.
Carl (thinking): "So, they didn't tap our last phone call, and still presume me dead."
Panel 4: Carl holding his newspaper slack and loose, drinking his coffee.
Carl (thinking): "I've got enough of my earnings smuggled away in offshore accounts to last me a couple years, but I'll still need a low-profile job to justify my income..."
