Description
Comic 72: Myth and FactPanel 1: Tony and Morty moving a bunch of boxes (one heavy one currently together.) from a moving van to the house, with Lydia carrying some smaller stuff. Seen from above and a slight distance.
CAP: "The next day..."
Tony: "All you've said is that myth and truth are often different. That doesn't answer the question. Why aren't you burning up right now? The sun is out, and there's not a cloud in the sky."
Morty: "If I tell you, will you reign in your overbearing curiosity fon the rest of the day?"
Tony: "Deal."
Panel 2: Show from just behind and to the side of Tony, looking at Morty. Lydia is walking past them.
Morty: "A thing to understand first, is that I don't turn into ash in the sunlight as you may have seen the drivel you might call classic films. Sunlight burns, yes, and it hurts, typically scarring a vampire for months before even our advanced healing abilities repair the damaged skin. Enough exposure, about a third of what might kill a human, can damage our system enough to the point that even the mildest disease of injury could kill us unless we are given ample time to recover."
Panel 3: Show from behind Morty towards Tony. On the other side of Morty's head is a faded image of a long genetic sequence.
Morty: "As some of your people have a certain gene that causes Darier's disease, our turning places a few mutations onto our own genetic structure, one of which is a similar gene and may actually might be an aggravated form of it. Typically after other forces, such as disease, will have already killed us prior to the final stages, although our body will still carry said processes out."
Panel 4: A picture of a vampire's body having lots of smaller pieces fall off and fly away.
Morty: "When we have had enough exposure to Ultraviolet B rays, our immune system struggles to keep up as our cells lose adhesion, to the point that it will become brittle, fragile and with enough time, it will drift away in the wind, like ash. Hence the myth."
Panel 5: Tony and Morty carrying the box and in the hall leading to Lydia's room.
Morty: "As for how I deal with it, which I know you were about to ask, two things: Thick clothing and sunscreen."
Tony: "Ah. Natch."
