His arms ached, straining, begging for permission to relax, to release him. He grit his teeth harder, denying them, rejecting the pain. He had been hanging on for half an hour now and he only needed to wait a few more minutes. Soon his goal would be in sight. He shifted slightly, moving up an inch, then another, trying to find some sort of purchase to ease the struggle. He should have gone with a rope, should have made sure he had some sort of fail-safe. Just a little longer. The distant sound of rumbling made his head perk up a bit, trying to find the source of the sound. Was it merely distant reverberations or something else? The sound grew louder, his hands feeling the shuddering material, knowing he wouldn't have to wait much longer. A jangle of metal on metal, and then a slow creaking. He let go.

"What the fucking hell?! Percy! You son of a bitch! Get off me! Get off! Nearly gave me a heart attack with that stupid ninja shit!" Percy slowly got off his roommate who he had fallen upon, offering a hand back up. He laughed and dodged a thrown punch, head tilting back, looking up at the ceiling where he had held his grip for so long, just waiting. It had been worth it.
