Description
This shows the combined assembly preparing for separation, or "staging". The top portion of the Aft Extension slides back on rails (not shown). Forward propulsion would be mounted on the sliding cover portion. This would require the propulsion modules to "unplug" from the rest of the assembly, which means they would probably not be available for CAS landing. Thus, the CAS would glide-in for an unpowered horizontal landing... probably at sea.
