Description Model : Laure Reist.
Photographer : Myself.
Place : Germany - FΓΌssen? Something like that.

"I got my first real six-string
Bought it at the five-and-dime
Played it 'till my fingers bled
Was the summer of 69

Me and some guys from school
Had a band and we tried real hard
Jimmy quit and Joey got married
Shoulda known we'd never get far

Oh when I look back now
That summer seemed to last forever
And if I had the choice
Yeah - I'd always wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life

Ain't no use in complainin'
When you got a job to do
Spent my evenin's down at the drive-in
And that's when I met you yeah

Standin' on your Mama's porch
You told me that you'd wait forever
Oh and when you held my hand
I knew that it was now or never
Those were the best days of my life
Back in the summer of 69

Man we were killin' time
We were young and restless
We needed to unwind
I guess nothin' can last forever - forever, no,yeah

And now the times are changin'
Look at everything that's come and gone
Sometimes when I play that old six-string
I think about you, wonder what went wrong"

In the summer of '69 I was 19, and had just finished my first year of college.

Wow i've always thought it must be crazy to remember the 60's and then after, look at the world today

Coming of age in the late sixties definitely marked me. It was a wild time. Some things I miss, but an awful lot of it is better off left to the history books.

That's what I think too, I mean, I know I can't really speak because I didn't live those times, but so many people around me say they'd have loved to live in the 60's or the 70's, that it was all better, but I don't think that's really true...though if I could experiment one week of living in the 60's or 70's I think i'd really enjoy it

There was a lot of idealism, but much of it was untempered by reality or experience. There was also a lot of hopelessness with the wave of assassinations (I was 13 and devastated when JFK was shot) and the very real fear that we might all go up tomorrow in a mushroom cloud.

On the other hand, we have made enormous strides in civil rights and earth care as movements birthed in those years have come to maturity.

It was a great time if you were male and white and straight. Those who don't score three out of three are much better off now than they would have been then.

My sons didn't have to register for the draft when they turned 18. I did.

Hmm, I understand what you mean.

"It was a great time if you were male and white and straight. Those who don't score three out of three are much better off now than they would have been then."

That's probably why I wouldn't have enjoyed actually growing up in that time, but back then that's all anyone was used to, so I guess it was just normal. Until there was all the rebellion and things finally changed..
