I'm sure this joke has been beaten to death by now, but I just couldn't help myself because I am perversely adept at ruining poignant moments.Or Erik is, at least.
Poor Christine. Minding her own business when all of a sudden Erik's standing behind her breathing through his mouth and going, "I have not seen you for approximately seven point four seconds and consequently I deduced that you had been maimed by dingoes. Are you quite alright, my dear? Shall I pour you some tea? I do hope the dingoes did not injure you too severely. They are notoriously vicious. We must make a conscious effort to avoid similar accidents in the future, and therefore I shall now duct tape myself to you so as to ensure your continued safety."
Marius is going to need a serious dose of Dr. Phil.

I love how you can get both Erik's tragedy and how unknowingly hilarious he can be - like, it's canon that he's very dry and snarky and brilliantly witty, and, if you go by the Susan Kay text, not adverse to being self deprecating (albeit in a very bitter, very dry fashion), but you can just tap into the grumpy old man side of him and then add a dash of paranoid love struck teen when it comes to Christine. He is *such* an utter dork (which is an odd thing to say concerning a deeply depressed murderous individual like our Erik, but, eh...)
