Description

Explanatory: These men are the main law-enforcers of the city who often help out Wordgirl, although other cops help out, too. Warden Chalmers, the prison warden, wears a cowboy hat and often overuses expressions (e.g. eats his hat after saying he'll eat his hat if a criminal isn't locked up in his cell), and often believes that he is right, only to fail, resulting in literally eating his hat. Chalmers also runs the Fair City Scout Camp outside the city. As for the police commissioner, there is one commissioner who appears at an art show who exposed Wordgirl as not having any knowledge of art, but was corrected the next night by taking The Butcher (who calls him the “police conditioner”) under arrest for fraudulent forgeries made from chopped liver. The second, Commissioner Watson, first appears in a two-parter but is stuck the rest of the show as a non-vocal cop who takes the criminals away. Like Dr. Watson of Sherlock Holmes fame, he usually jumps to conclusions when examining a crime scene. (Source cited: Wikipedia)

General Opinion: Chalmers provides prime evidence of stupidity in Fair City, as shown when he literally eats his hat. Commissioner Watson, on the other hand, ought to have a more expansive role than just a silent recurring character who shows up only to join the cops in bringing criminals to the slammer. In general, the fact that Wordgirl interacts with cops is something different from Superman (something Batman does, rather). The cops sure have a big role in Wordgirl.
