I think I'll go for the obvious joke [in a dorky white person voice]: "It's a little too late for that!" Ba-dum, ching!

"Uber dork"? Really? Yeah, I guess you're right.

Hey hey, the dorkier the better. Main-stream "cool" people annoy me.

Totally! And I think it's so lame that "geek chic" is in right now. Everybody's like, "Oh, nerds are trendy right now". No, they're not--attractive people dressed like nerds are popular. People still don't want anything to do with actual nerds! Luckily we don't need those trend-slaves.

MalkavianFalconess In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2009-12-15 10:22:41 +0000 UTC]
EXACTLY! Man I liked nerds before they were popular... I knew this kid when I was around 11, who was tall, gawky, with black hair cut to drape over his ears, thick glasses, and wore shorts with long socks and penny loafers. I thought I wanted to marry him. XD

Sweet! Sounds like a nerd stud! Yeah, I just get sick of people not being themselves. That's what I like about nerds--they don't really care what others think. We might be total dorks, but at least we're honest with ourselves!

Very true. I was just talking with my friend Amber today about how the coolest people are the ones who just don't give a crap what others think and are just themselves.

Oh, yeah, because people who aren't comfortable with themselves will only say what they think other people want to hear. You can sense that fakeness, and it's a turn-off. Everybody likes being around people who are comfortable with themselves.

Another one of those "practice what I preach" challenges, I suppose. I've definitely gotten better with being myself, though, especially when it comes to talking to girls I like. That used to be when I was the fakest. Like a girl would fall for some douchey fake spoof of me over the real me? Then if she did, I'd have to be fake for the rest of my life! What kind of logic is that? I don't know what I was afraid of.

MalkavianFalconess In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2009-12-28 06:51:59 +0000 UTC]
Oh wow yeah. I made the same realization myself a few months ago. You can't be a fake you and expect true love, it doesn't work that way.

MurderousAutomaton In reply to MalkavianFalconess [2009-12-28 23:06:05 +0000 UTC]
Exactly. I realized that I was focusing on my appearance, so naturally I found girls who are shallow. People pick up on what you project! I'm much happier being myself now.

Good. I'm glad. Shallow people are never good to keep around, really. They never tell you the truth.

I try not to count them--it makes me depressed! No, but I didn't realize how many people cared about me until I had to leave IL--it was touching!

Maybe! Some people who said they'd miss me the most haven't really kept in contact. Life's weird that way. Out of sight, out of mind?

That's happened to me, too! My friend Jen was crying and all weepy when I moved across town, I haven't seen her since. It's been 4 years. I guess the aquaintenses try to over-compensate while the real friends know they could only ever loose you as a friend if they stopped trying.

MurderousAutomaton In reply to MalkavianFalconess [2010-01-04 01:10:32 +0000 UTC]
That's very true. Sometimes I wonder if it's ME that makes it hard to keep in touch. Old anti-social habits are hard to break, I guess... I really should call them more--all I ever do is email. Maybe that's too cold..?

MalkavianFalconess In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2010-01-04 01:17:20 +0000 UTC]
I really don't know what to tell you here because I do the EXACT same thing... I make up excuses to get off the phone with most people. There are only 2 people I can stand to be on the phone with at any given time. Emailing is safer. I spell better. Have more time to think out what I say. etc.

MurderousAutomaton In reply to MalkavianFalconess [2010-01-05 02:18:15 +0000 UTC]
EXACTLY! I think it's just because we're shy. I just don't like the phone because it's HALF of a conversation--you really need the eye contact and expressions and gestures--I'd rather just talk to someone face-to-face. Plus, my ex-girlfriend wanted to talk on the phone ALL THE TIME, every night. It just got old!
But the phone is nice now, when most of my friends are back in IL, especially my brother--I prolly miss him the most.

Sounds about right. Shyness is a curse, I swear. I agree though, I really do prefer to talk face-to-face with people. It seems more substatial, and funnier stuff happens that way.
Oh man I know how you feel. My first ex, would call me COMSTANTLY. I had to get a bluetooth, just so I could go about my life because he just would not get off the phone. And would get angry if I let him go to visit a friend. Ugh.
I bet. It really sucks to have everyone you know be so far away. I'm sorry.

I totally agree! I only like the phone when actually hanging out with people is too hard.
Man, what a phone nut! I didn't think guys even liked the phone that much! That's odd. Maybe he was a control freak? Guys are a lot more insecure than girls think, they just show it different ways.
Eh, it's not so bad. My sister's out here, like I've said. If she wasn't, I'd probably shrivel up and die! Of course, there's always Bean to hang out with... ^.^

Oh yeah he was a control freak. After he cheated on me, and I took him back, he was CONVINCED I was sleeping with every guy I knew. Even the ones in other states. I gotta tell ya, being on the phone 24/7 is EXHAUSTING.

No, no, no! That's too bad. How could you think that way? Dang Goth music! Glad you changed your mind!
Never settle--I've put up with a lot because it's easier than doing my best. We settle because we're afraid--afraid of trying harder, afraid of failing, afraid of being alone. It's too bad.

MalkavianFalconess In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2010-01-09 13:22:44 +0000 UTC]
Totally. Well, he was my first, and he made me think that way. I got over it though. The main reason why I broke up with Brandon was because I refuse to settle anymore. The right guy is out there, and I'll go to the ends of the earth to find him.
Fear does settle on us, all of us. It takes different forms, but it's always fear behind that wheel.

MurderousAutomaton In reply to MalkavianFalconess [2010-01-15 04:36:02 +0000 UTC]
Well, I'm glad you came to your senses! That's a good outlook--I realized I settled, too, but on everything! I don't want to accept myself on "good enough" terms. I want to know that I'm doing my best at everything!
Yeah, fear does have its influence, but it's not invincible. Right now I'm striving to topple my fears--I can't hold myself back anymore!

MalkavianFalconess In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2010-01-15 04:39:09 +0000 UTC]
Exactly. I'm beginning to see more and more that the ONLY thing keeping people in the dark IS fear. It's the root of all of it! Once you conquer it, then there is nothing holding you back.
Haha good plan. I have faith you'll achieve that.
