Description

This particular design gets it name from a large warm-blooded, feathered, reptilian creature native to one of the frigid outer worlds of the Dakmarrian System located within the borders of the Unknown Regions. Through an extraordinary evolutionary process, this creature, known as a Shyrahkk, grows large feathered wings during the warmer sub-zero summers, allowing it to take to the air in search of food on the vast snowy plains and mountains that cover the planet's surface. It was at first thought that this creature was in fact a true avian until a scientific expedition was stranded on the planet one winter and subsequently made a startling discovery. They found that during the harsh winter season, Shyrahkks shed their wings, not unlike many creatures shed their antlers or horns, and hunt on the ground on all fours. New wings grow to replace the old ones when the weather warms once again. It is believed that this process occurs due to the vulnerability of the thin appendages to the extreme weather and the fact that the wings are all but useless during the ferocious storms that rack the planet's surface. Several subspiecies of this creature are known to exist but all share this same very unique feature as well as the Shyrahkk' prefix.

There are two notes of interest dealing with Shyrahkks. The first was that it was later discovered that the name [i]Shyrack[/i], which it was originally called, previously belonged to a large, bat-winged avian creature native to the caves of Korriban in the Horuset System. In a galaxy containing trillions of species, it is an occurrence that sometimes happens, but the clerical error was simply corrected by changing the spelling from 'Shyrack' to 'Shryahkk'. All texts from this point on shall reflect this.

The Shyrahkk'Turu Multi-Purpose craft was the first of the Shyrahkk-class craft to make it from the data pad to the automated assembly lines of Dark Star Industries, a small-time ship building company serving as the primary legal front of the Dark Star Crime Syndicate also located within the Dakmarrian System. This particular ship, was created to serve primarily as an inter-system multi-purpose very light transport. This craft is capable of carrying quite heavy loads, being limited primarily only by small confines of its somewhat small cargo hold but can also carry a variety of mission-specific devices when fitted with a modular wing. The Shyrahkk'Turu basically equates to an SUV in 'real-life' terms and is commonly used as a high-speed courier.
