Iron remained by the edge of the balcony, gripping the ledge and kneeling much like a child to watch the now vacant courtyard hundreds of feet beneath them. The heat remained ever present on her cheeks, having been too timid to step into the light when her sister made the announcement before their kingdom. "Do you think I will have a champion, sister?"
"You very well should." Glass flipped through her book of diseases with a modicum of boredom, "I extended the invitation to all the corners of the globe. Plus I am certain your own army is chomping at the bit to participate if not to preserve their leader's 'integrity' or some nonsense."
"...what if no one comes?"
Iron's sad, child like voice rung in Glass's ear, making the feared and ruthless Duchess to all but the very warrior who crouched childishly in waiting close her book. She shuffled to her sister's side, running lithe spider-like fingers through Iron's wild locks with a gentleness unknown to all but her. "Come inside now, sister."
The Commander of Iron gave a slow nod, taking a wishful breath as the falling pedals of coming spring floated through the air of Illithid. "...yes, sister."
