"This is my family. My father Sophiros and my two adoptive brothers Brucus and Arcus. I asked my brothers once why their eyes were so different from mine. They told me it was from the period of 10 years after my mother had died. In a desperation to help his citizens, Dad tried a spell that would allow them to go without food for long periods of time. He first tried it on his guard and the guard's family. The spell backfired when they shrunk to half their size and their eyes turned red. Horrified, the rest of the citizens who were unaffected fled the lands in search for food themselves. Even when Dad had gotten better at the spell and used it on the nurses looking after me (or in this case my egg), the damage he had inflicted upon that guard and his family was irreversible. They became known as Pixie canems. The guard's family were Brucus and Arcus' ancestors. When they came to seek shelter, Dad still felt regret for his failed spell even though he was still under the influence of Hexar; the god that turned him evil. It wasn't until the canem lands were restored that the original species of canems returned. I asked my brothers afterwards if they would be ok with me fixing their eyes, but they told me there wasn't any need to. And that's perfectly ok"
