A few hours later, Felicia is back at home, recovering from this very distressing event. Jon has not left her side for a minute. He's been acting a bit different lately...a bit...overprotective. She can only wonder why he's behaving in such a manner. The catgirl remembers that Jon had told her that he had something to tell her after he saved her from those thugs, but what?
Finally, she can't help herself any longer. She just has to know. Looking over at her friend, she smiles. "Jon?", she says, trying to get his attention. "What is it?", he quickly responds. "What did you have to tell me?"
As she says this, she notices Jon's facial expression change. His eyes widen and he looks away from her. The catgirl can see that he is very nervous about something...but what is it?
"Jon, it's okay. You're my best friend, and you can tell me anything," she reassures him. After a tense silence, Jon looks back at Felicia and sighs. "Felicia, we've been friends for a long time, and even though that might not seem like much, it does to me. You were the first person who didn't reject me simply because I'm not...'normal'. You showed me that there is more good than evil in this world. Without you, I would've never known of the good inside every person on the planet...but more than anything, I've seen the good in you. You are pure, perhaps the only truly pure thing in this world. Just being around you brings me joy, the only joy I've ever known."
"Felicia, what I'm trying to say is...I love you, and I always have."
The catgirl is astonished. She had always dreamed that she would hear him say those words, but she had never imagined that she'd be too shocked to react. She just stares back at him, eyes opened wide.
Jon, however, interprets this is a completely different way. Her silence says only one thing to him, and that is that he's just destroyed the only friendship he's ever had. "I'm...I'm sorry. I understand...goodbye," he says sadly, standing up and leaving.
It's only after he's already gone that Felicia realizes that she needs to get to him quickly and tell him how she truly feels...that she feels the same way about him that he feels about her...
