Description
location: Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta, GAreason: Family Trip
since i got to the aquarium so late (about an hour before it closed) i not only got a discount on my ticket, i also had the lucky treat of watching the divers go into the tank.
they really did seem like martians, although they lacked the green coloring (i assume that's what the fish would be thinking)... the weird gear that helps them survive in a foreign environment, the fact that they descend from the "sky", and the body-shape that (to fish) looks like an odd cross between a crab and on octopus. mammal what?
....
i soon discovered that mantra rays love bubbles (...a lot) and are willing to nearly kamakazi poor, unsuspecting divers in order to swim through them. in a shark filled tanks, i was torn between laughing be arse off at the divers' reaction to sudden, fast in-closing shadows and feeling sorry for their shattered nerves because i know if it were me in there, i'd already have my back press up against some rock or getting really friendly with the "sea" floor... the diver's lucky since the manta ray choose the second diver's bubble trail (who is out of frame), i'm sure he next on the list tho.
Either way, it was incredibly entertaining to watch and an awesome photo opportunity and i didn't even have to get wet
inspiration:
recently found this website that lists idioms from different languages and translates them literally and then relatively into english. it very interest to see how the culture of a country has tangible influence on their language.
the following idiom is german...
"Ein blaues Wundererleben" = to experience a blue miracle = to get a real shock
