Today I wander through the street
Oblivious to all of the fools I must greet

I feel compelled to travel far to the east
I find a zoo, I meet a beast
I'm searching

I tell it my fears and my hopes and my dreams
The beast jumps and it leaps and it screams
I'm searching

The beast fills with territorial rage
A man with a gun has entered its cage
I'm searching

The beast leaves me to attack
The man with the gun won't fight back
I'm searching

The man holds out some fresh meat
The beast it so eager to eat
I'm searching

The bait was places on the ground
The beast eats what is found
I'm searching

The man pulls out a bit more
He places it right by the door
I'm searching

My beast enters a room
It will now face its doom
I'm searching

I leave the zoo in a rush
I still see the beast's fur of plush
I'm missing

I do not see it again
It wasn't wandering around in its den
I'm missing

I realize now in the end
The beast was my only real friend
I'm missing
