P.S. I your icon. What I wouldn't give to be on his arm instead of Christine right then. And yet, I'm just as content to stand on the sidelines and watch my "master" lead his love to "our" hideaway. Until I discovered I was completely and irrevocably in love with Erik (When I was about 15 3/4 or so.), I always imagined myself as his servant.

Christine is a great girl (loyal, virtuous, and kind-hearted), and I understand why she left Erik ( His intensity can be a little strong, scary even, for some people.); I just can't stand the fact that she left him in the first place. Here's my take on it, something I often say when asked about why I Erik so much: "Men like Raoul can be found in more places every day. You can find a man like Erik only once in a lifetime, if you're lucky!"

At least the Charles Dance version of him is. Oh wait, that's Phillipe, his older brother who was just passed over in the ALW musical. I think Raoul is a good guy; he's just... unoriginal. The only time that I disagreed with that statement was the night I saw POTO in Las Vegas last October. I can honestly say that though I admired the Phantom for singing through, what sounded like, a cold that night, the actor who played Raoul won my heart. It made me tear up when he was kissing Christine and I was even more sad that he wasn't the Phantom; he had the emotional intensity, and the killer pipes, to carry it off and everything, but he was in the wrong role. I felt totally guilty afterwards, almost like I was betraying my Erik even for the briefest of moments.

I have to agree that Phillipe completely out-does Raoul as a fop. And Raoul is a good guy, just totally not Erik.

What I wouldn't give to be able to see a live performance of Phantom myself. Unfortunately, all i've seen is my school's musical. Don't get me wrong, I thought they did great, and our lead was a fantastic singer, but its just not the same.

Yeah. I actually feel pretty proud because I've done "double duty" in terms of the American productions of the show. I went to see POTO in NYC on my 13th birthday, and I told you about my POTO stint at the Venetian last October. (I have the T-shirts from each production to prove it.)
