As of tomorrow, it will be exactly a year from when i completed my other toph drawing. i thought it'd be kinda cool to revisit and do another drawing in a different style.i'm not exactly sure what it is, but something about this is still bothering me about this piece, any suggestions?
anyhow, i'm SO EXCITED FOR THE MOVIE. if it's bad, i will seriously go into hibernation for months. i have been looking forward to this thing for EVER. i'm even seeing the midnight show (which i never do haha) and I AM SO FRICKIN PUMPED YOU HAVE NO IDEA.
anyhow, i was just going to put something lame like "even in the dark, you can always find guidance" or whatnot as the description, but my excitement overcame me. whatever, I AM SO EXCITED.
..could you tell that i'm excited? because i'm excited.

[edit] and on a side note, i have no comment about the racism being discussed in the choosing of roles in the upcoming movie. and frankly, i refuse to care untill i have seen the movie and developed my own opinions about it. i don't really think you can have such a strong opinion about a movie you haven't even seen. stop being so negative, please. that being said, good day.

I agree, I'm not really upset with the whole race thing in the new movie, but I haven't seen it either.
But if they found someone for the second movie who looked just like you drew Toph, I'd be ecstatic.

Oh my goodness this picture blows me away. Toph has always been my favorite character and I love this realistic depiction.
The strokes are mesmerizing. It looks so traditional, yet I can tell it was digitally painted with some textured brushes. Makes me want to experiment with the rest of my Photoshop brushes. The colors and composition are so beautiful. It's mind blowing!

Great work on the realism! Now if only they find an actor that can closely resemble Toph! It would seem they chose a race for each nation in the movie. White = Water, Middle Eastern = Fire, Asian = Earth...or at least thats the bulk of what I saw.

Holy crap, she looks adorable in this. Any chance you could use this same style, but with a little more toughness and show in her combat? It fits her personality better, and it shouldn't have to mean she'll look ugly doing it either.

OMG. I just about cried from the beauty of this. T__T I did a humorous picture of Avatar Kyoshi and a badgermole 'cause I just love the critters of Avatar, and now you're making me want to do Toph with one as well . . .
Weird similarities between Toph and June, don't you think? Large, blind mole creatures and ridiculous strength of the ladies, plus name-calling powers.

maybe it's the bridge of the nose thats bothering you? I tried to look at it as if i had drawn it to get that self critical, hard on yourself perspective. it's not noticeable from close up but from farther away she gets a tad cross eyed. Since you did this digitally it shouldn't be too difficult of an alter if you agree.
hope that helped. I know how annoying it can be when you just can't put your finger on what's off. I think it's a great drawing though. Toph tied for favorite character with Zuko to me.
