I've been wanting to draw Danny going ghost for awhile now, just to see how I'd figure out HOW to do it. In the end, it was a long complicated process of coming up with something fairly simple. I'd give a step-by-step, but it's REALLY hard to describe what I did.

I chose to do this pic as a screenshot from Micro Management, because I'd be able to kill two birds in one stone and do my "going ghost" shot AND another screencap at the same time (did that sentence make sense? I'm an English major, you'd think I'd know...). Plus, this is one of my favorite "going ghost" poses of his. It's rare when we see Fenton with a Phantom expression.
And that's something I've noticed that the series is very realistic about. Danny doesn't act all super-tough and aggressive usually as Danny Fenton, but as Phantom he gains a bit more of an attitude and a mouth. There's just something about having special abilities that gives one the feeling of being on top, and that can make you change your personality slightly. So when Danny goes ghost, he's almost turning his mood super-human too. And I know there's a term or at least a better way of describing this phenomenon, but psychology is NOT my major, so you'll all have to just follow along and pretend like I just said something very profound (just smile and nod, I won't know the difference).

Background is a somewhat simplified version of the screencap I'm using, because I'm still figuring out how to work that blasted pen tool. I swear, that thing was created so the few artists who could get the hang of it could show off to the vast majority (like me) that's still stuck in the "photoshop stone ages".
I'm not too sure on the color scheme, but that's what it kinda was in the show (give or take a few tones), so I went with it. Come to think of it, a lot of city scapes in this show are pinkish purple. ??? It's not even a set brick red...
