Description As Legion dies, another cartoon rises to catch me on the rebound...

TRANSFORMERS ANIMATED! I was never involved in the franchise when it was popular in my childhood, but it fascinated me all the same. I watched Beast Wars when it aired, and I've seen the live action movie (which lacked...that same childhood charm, namely to the annoying amount of un-funny and crude jokes, although it did have some cool things about it in the animation department).
Then a week ago, while mourning the death of Legion of Super Heroes, my pining friends and I decided to give this new cartoon that we've been hearing about a try. We nearly died laughing. Transfomers Animated has a witty charm to it; the writing's excellent, the story involving, the characters lovable, and the fact that references the original cartoon has me wanting to check that old series out.

As with a lot of people, Bumblebee quickly established himself as my favorite character in the series. His voice actor works magic with his lines, which are half funny because of the writing, and half funny because of how his actor delivers them. I feel like I have a lot in common with this character; he seems to embody my inner child with his hyperactivity, funny sense of humor, and his addiction to electronic gadgets.

Maybe later I'll do a pic of Rachet, my second favorite. His voice acting and writing are also superb, and he doesn't get enough fan credit in my book. Grouchy old veteran medi-bots need love too. ^_^

As this series is very stylized (which took some getting used to, but now I love it; it has emotion), I decided to ditch my usual method of translating the art into my style and go with a direct imitation of the series art style. I think it worked out rather well. I downloaded several dozen screenshots of BB from the Transformers Animated fansite [link] but I only ended up using about three. O_o Ah well. I only needed the pics to analyze the art; the pose I made up myself.
I never could draw mechs, which is why I haven't done orignal Transformer art or anything from a mech series (although I'd like to try Megas XLR at some point). That's where the real beauty of this art style comes in: I CAN DRAW IT!! *parties*

Background was fast, although I'm not so keen on it. I may change it later...but every time I say that I end up not doing it, so...um...there it is.

Oh, and Happy April Fools! I didn't have a joke planned, so enjoy this art of a jokester instead.

Transformers Animated is copyrighted to Cartoon Network (I think...is that right?) and, um, whatever company does the rights and/or toys and such.
