Description [EDIT]
A Daily Deviation? Whoah, ~Avile13 , ^Pixel-Spotlight thank you SO MUCH! You've made my day guys, you have no idea how happy I am!
[/EDIT]

Another doll and another tribute to the great Ladislas and Irene Starevitch!
(This time a fully poseable one!)

This little guy took me 6 months to complete! ;3; I made him all from scratch, I sculpted the head and paws and sewed the body and tail.
He's going to be a part of my art portfolio!

Hope, you guys like it!

Reason why I asked is because I'd like to make figures of some characters of mine, only in a smaller scale. 1:20.3 scale which in model railroading is also known as "F" scale. I'm not totally sure but I believe a scale foot is a 1/2 inch.

I'd like to replicate a few characters from the comic I'm working on to go with F scaled models of the trains alsofeatured in the comic. My goal as a hobbiest is to become as much of a craftsman as possible, right down to scratch building my own structures, locomotives and train cars, to the figures and people who populate my miniature worlds.

gunslinger87 In reply to Myszoskok [2010-12-07 22:55:57 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, one of my goals/dreams I wish to accomplish is to build a garden railway based/inspired entirely by the world of the comic and the railroad that is featured in it, the "Gunpowder Falls Railroad".

A while back I tried to "map" out the whole thing in scale. As a hobbiest I have an obsession with detail! And in this situation I may have set the bar a little high! I intend to build entire towns at every stop! Good thing each town is reletively small.
The main town of Gunpowder Falls however is HUGE! So far it's the only part of the plan that's been fully drawn out! The town would cosist of roughly between 50 to 60 buildings, all scratch built and with full interiors and lighting. I've drawn up some of he buildings already in F scale. The town measures at least 40ft across!

But this is something that is still years ahead of me. First things first I'm going to need a plot of land big enough to build the darn thing.

Much Obliged!! I could use all the luck I can get. For now though I'm limited to indoor modeling. And even for that I'm plotting on how to make Anthro figures to populate my future layout and dioramas.

At the moment, due to a lack of finances, I haven't been able to do much.

I do have some pictures of a diorama I've been working on in HO scale.
[link]

Sorry, it's a bit blurry. Anyway, the water tank is scratch built. The locomotive is custom painted, but not built by myself. (it's a LONG out of production model and a bit f an antique) The Combine (passenger car wih baggage door) is original, also no longer in production. And all I did to the caboose is remove the original lettering.

The little building is a really old kit, also long out of production, that is slowly being repainted and eventually weathered to look like it's been out in the desert for many many decades. It looks like carp right now, but it's an ongoing project.

Sadly the plastic base I used for this decided to warp its shape and not it wont sit flat on a table. When I can I want to get a nice piec of wood and start again.

The scene may become part of a "lift out", meaning it will be part of the actuall model railroad but it can be removed and displayed as a static diorama if desired. The little building will also feature a complete interior and lighting. I also want to fit a small smoke unit inside to smoke will rise out of the stove pipe on those cold winter nights!

Here's a view from a different angle with a different locomotive.
[link]

Given the lack of funds I have, unfortunately, the most I've been able to do is paint the models I have. Not that that's a bad thing mind you. XD
Recently I've been repainting a Combine (a car that's half passenger and half baggage)and a small gondola car to be part of a MOW train (Maintaience-Of-Way)

Wow, I'm probbaly using a lot of railroad lingo you're not familiar with. Sorry about that, bit of a habbit of mine.

I love that kind of dioramas! I used to make some wildlife dioramas when I was younger, but I used pre-made pieces only, so it wasn't very creative...

The smoke and full lighting sound awesome! I'd love to see that!

Really impressive work man, keep it up!

Lol, Uncle Google helps me with your lingo ;3

Never thought of Google being a glossary for railroading terms!
It doesn't surprise me though.

I thought I had photos of the work train cars I've been working on. I recon they were deleted by mistake. I'll have to take new ones and post them.

I have a ton of planed modeling projects, mostly in On30 scale. My first model railroad is more like an 8x2ft diorama. It would be of the famed Grizzly Flats Railroad. It was a private 500ft long backyard railroad owned and operated by Ward Kimball, one of Walt Disney's "Nine Old Men". (Disney's inner circle of creative geneous')

At one point he had three fully operational steam locomotives. #1 named "Chloe", an 0-4-2 type loco that ran in Hawii on a sugar cane plantation. Then there's the most famous of all, #2 named the "Emma Nevada". A Baldwin built 2-6-0 from 1882!! She is the only surviving example of her specific class from the era! And then there was the #3, the "Olomana". She was also an 0-4-2 plantation locomotive.

Ward also had a small collection of rolling stock (railroad cars) for his mini railway empire. Most notably Coach "#5". Originally built in 1881 for the Carson & Colorado RR, he baught it in 1938 for $50. They were being burned out in the desert and men scraped through the ashes for their metal to sell for scrap. It was such a shame so many pieces of histoy were lost that way.

Currently most of Ward's collection i now on display at the Orange Empire Railway Museum in CA. The #1, #2, coach #5, and a few other peices are now diplayed there.

You can read up more about it via this link.
==> [link] <==

For my Grizzly Flats diorama I plan to kitbash (more modeling terms) a pair of Bachmann On30 passenger cars to make an On30 scale Coach #5. As supplied from Bachmann the cars are too short. Coach 5 has 13 windows one one side so I will cut and splice two of the cars together. Then I'll modify the roof ends to better match the ones on the real coach #5. I plan on completely gutting the interior and build my own.
I have a friend who volonteers at the museum and he was able to get a floor plan of coach 5. He's sending a copy to me for reference. For that I'm much obliged.

I also want to build a model of the Emma Nevada. As to how I'll do it I'm not sure. Most of it will be scratch built, but I am still trying to find a chassis to work from. That and to find the correct diameter drive wheels set to the correct gauge. (width of track between the rails)

I do plan to make a model of the Chloe too. That shouldn't be too hard. It's a small locomotive and I think the Bachmann On30 Porter would make a decent chassis to work from.
