Yep, I'm one of those people who despise pitchloids =w=
I also have a sudden urge to rant so you might wanna get out if you don't wanna hear it
I don't want people to take offense to this, but there's something I've been wanting to know, what is the point of a pitchloid?
I can understand Yowane Haku and Akita Neru, since neither of them were really meant to have voices, but some of the one's I've seen are ridiculus, and unoriginal, like I've heard of this one pitchloid, named Mika Hatsune, Miku's sister, her personality is pretty much the same only she's a little more timid, and this is her boxart [link]
Or SawU , which is basically an evil SeeU and this is her boxart [link]
I mean seriously, if you're going to make a character, at least try to be original, most of the pitchloids I see are pathetic, and don't even get me started on crossover pitchloids like Vocaloid X Ben 10 or whatever,
If you want to make a character,why not make a UTAU,
But then you say "But it's too hard" Dude it's not that hard!
It kinda is if you wanna make it all fancy but if you want to make a simple oridinary voicebank all you do is record a few vocals like "a e i o u ba be bi bo bu" and so on, and then do a little oto.ini ing, which I'll admit is a bit confusing until you get the hang of it, but there are tons of people out there who are probably willing to help you with that, and if you recorded it well enough, you might not even need an oto.ini,so don't use that as an excuse because it;s not a good one, and then you have an original voice, it's not that hard! Now say you're a boy trying to make a girl voicebank or vice versa, and you can't seem to imitate the other gender or get your character's voice right, get someone else to record then,
Then you say "Oh but I don't have anyone to record for me" dude, unless you spend literally your entire life inside, you probably know someone who would do it, heck, I'm going to have my little sister record a voicebank in the far future, and she couldn't care less about Anime or Japanese stuff, much less Vocaloid, and I can't count how many times I've seen somebody record their parents or grandparents voice for a voicebank, honestly, there's really no excuse
And the character, at least try to make it original ok?
Here's all you need to do to make it original:
1.Make a good character design, that derives little to no parts from another character
2.Make a name that isn't often used, too simple, or just plain stupid, like the name Utane for instance is overused in the UTAU community and it simply means "Song sound" or "Singing sound" or anything of the sort, try something creative and deep, like my Utau Tsukekuru Wide, Tsukekuru means "Once Coming Sound" and Wide, well it has a double meaning, I'm too lazy to explan right now, but you get the point, now it doesn't have to be that creative it can be something like "Deep sound" or "Blasting Sound" or "Demented sound" something simple like that, but something like Mika Hatsune or Mimi Megpoid is just stupid and requires little to no thought
3.Give it a personality,
Really you can't have much of an unoriginal personality, but being a Mary-Sue, or rather having too much good about them, is rightfully frowned upon, the majority of my characters (That aren't UTAUs) are misirible and depressed a lot, now it doesn't have to be like that, but it has to have at least one bad or negative quality, or simply just not too many good qualities, like having super strength extreme smarts and good looks all at once is not good

But seriously, be original, because really you're just stealing another persons work
Like one time, some idiot decided to pitch up my cover of "Rugrats Theory" by Ritsu, and she didn't even bother to credit the original creator of the song, much less me, and it said to credit on the original video, the creator of the song herself brought this up to me, and I asked the jerkface to credit both of us, and she just deleted the video! What an asshole!
Or this other time, you all know Circus-P's song "Zombie Revenge Song" well some girl decided to bring the pitch down, add an echo to it, and said it was her singing, and I brought this up to her, maybe I shouldn't have but I did, an she kept insisting it was her singing, then I found out she also had a "cover" of rolling girl that sounded a lot like SF-A2 Miki pitched down, she even said I quote "Why do I sound like Miki when I'm autotuned? XD" sounding almost exactly like 2 vocaloids at the same time, with the robotic components and everything? and the background music also being pitched down, yeah I don't buy it, so I took this program my friends dad made called Arachnid, which is an audio editing program that pretty much lets you edit songs in-depth ( I should really use it more often o^o )
And I took her cover, pitched it up a little, and compared the frequncies of that song and the original, and they were almost exactly the same, so when I told her I had proof she was lying, she just stopped responding, coincidence, I think not
Anyways, you get my point, pitchloids are really just an excuse to steal someones work, go out be original! Be creative and spontanious, create your own voice!
