Description
Wombats are the close relatives of the koalas, but unlike their arboreal cousins, wombats prefer to live underground and dig, and they also prefer to be solitary rather than with others. Apart from other marsupials, a wombat's pouch is backwards-facing, meaning the opening is underneath the mother's rear end. Speaking of rear ends, a wombat's feces is cube-shaped and is used for territory-marking. Its rear is also used to block the entrance to its burrow whenever a predator is nearby. Its skin is protected with a lot of cartilage, which makes it super tough and with their bums exposed, they can withstand bites and scratches made by its predators. If a wombat ever needs to run from something, its short legs can move at speeds of about 25 mph for a short amount of time.---
This Wombat gives a heart to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), a charity that works to save, protect and shelter neglected animals across Australia.
