So I’m going to try (keyword try) to revive this account. I'm just going to be focusing on mythical stuff. Maybe I might do fan art only if it relates back to myths in some way, beyond that Nope! Now let's see how fast I can screw this- I mean how long I can last with this promise to myself. The first contender is explaining Typhon and Echidna's kids (kinda). I mentioned them a few times but never fully explained their myths since I assumed that everyone had heard of them (especially if you live in the western half). Lots of influence from Romans in Europe and there's a thing called curriculum where I lived that likes to shove greek mythology down our throats. That could just be me though.
Crommyonian sow- Did not realize that she was one of the children in my first few artworks of. That’s because apparently oral language was a big mess and the sow was raised by an old crone named Phaea. I’m going to take a gander and say she got kicked out of the crib pretty early on. Additional myths include her getting killed by theseus while terrorizing some country side and giving birth to the calydonian boar (who also got killed or terrorizing a region).
Orthrus- Was tasked with being a guard dog for the red cattle of greyon on the island of Geryon. One of many children in this family that got killed by Hercules during his 12 labors (at least they have something in common besides blood ties). Was also the father of the nemean lion with Chimera (though some sources say it was him and Echidna. So would the lion be his son or his brother if that was the case.)
Chimera- Her name is infamous since we’re pretty much a chimera ourselves in some way. Chimera is a broad term for any amalgamation of creatures but in greek and roman myths, she was a lion, goat, serpent (sometimes a dragon head was added) merged into one that could breathe fire. Some sources say wherever she went, disaster struck. Her main story was her fight against Pegasus and Bellerophon and being defeated by choking on a ball of lead.
Sphinx- I’m sure you’ve heard this riddle before. “What creature has one voice, but has four feet in the morning, two feed in the afternoon, and three feet at night?” Did you guess some sort of pokemon- I mean man? You would be correct, Oedipus answered two of her riddles for the freedom of Thebes. The other riddle was "there are two sisters; one gives birth the other, who in turn gives birth to the first. Who are they?" The answer was the sun and moon. I guess Sphinx felt buthurt after losing (twice) because a bunch of sources said she either threw herself off a cliff or ate herself into oblivion (Drama queen am I right?)
Cerberus- You guys know him. He guards the underworld, has three heads, and loves his owners (at least, that’s what my take is since he kinda gets off scot free in terms of death). He was defeated by two heroes, one was Orpheus who played his lyre which put Cerberus to sleep (poor guy, would it have killed you to wait one extra minute? You were literally at the entrance). And the other was Hercules who wrestled and subdued Cerberus during his 12 labors.
Ladon- probably the least well known, only depicted guarding the golden apples of the garden of Hesperides before SOMEONE (*cough hercules) decided they wanted to kill for them apples. Probably would have been great friends with the Hesperides/ the sunset nymphs since they were the only source of company there. Also depicted to have like a crap ton of heads but I’m not about that life so just assume when you cut Ladon, serpents spring forth from the wound.
Hydra- Has poor hygiene that their blood and breath is poisonous. Depicted to have 9 heads but I’m going to assume Hydra was born with one and then realized that they can grow out two after the first head was cut off. Killed mainly but Hercules but got aid from his nephew, Iolaus.
