Description
On Madeira island in Portugal, there is a set of caves known as Furnas do Cavalum. According to legend there is an monster in imprisoned there named Cavalum. Cavalum resembles a horse with bat wings and the ability to snort fire.

The legend goes that when Cavalum was still free and roamed the earth he decided to knock on the door of the church to talk to God. When God asked him why, Cavalum replied "I want to propose a challenge. I will destroy this church, this village, this island and all the people that live here and I want to see if you are able to stop me."

God sent him away telling him he had no patience for such games. In retaliation Cavalum gathered the wind and clouds and caused a great storm over the village. From the top of the cliff, Cavalum neighed in satisfaction at people's distress. God didn't move a single finger, thinking Cavalum would soon get tired of his game. but the Storm grew worse, razing houses and fields. The Church's crucifix was blown up into the sea.

Irritated with Cavalum's insistence, god decided to act. First, he had a boat find the crucifix. Afterwards, he called the sun to ward off the storm. In order to not be bothered by the monster anymore, God imprisoned Cavalum in the caves, where even today his protests can be heard on rainy days. and some say if you were to find him in the caves he would eat you.
