One of my 300+ original characters I've created over many, many years of doing digital art as a hobby!

As of lately, I've been quite into researching the Korean Legend of a creature called a Gumiho, and this is my personal take on the legendary beast. Unlike it's fox-demon counterparts of legend in Japan and China, a Gumiho is a much more malevolent being that thrives on the killing of humans and devouring their livers, thus I feel they would be an absolute nightmare on the battlefield when the peninsula needed it most.

Interestingly enough, during my research for this project into traditional patterns, I discovered that Bats are held as a symbol of good luck-- specifically 5 bats together called Obok (5 blessings) represents 5 fortunes (longevity, wealth, health, love of virtue, and natural death). I thought this would be interesting to tie into the overall design, as Gumiho are malevolent beings and not at all a symbol of luck. A lure with a promise of 5 fortunes could entice easily influenced humans.
