Description
Reference from [link] here's the pic [link]Tried mixing pencil with white pastel on toned paper, I liked the look of my last drawing (the charcoal + white pastel one) but I thought I'd try with pencil to see if I can add more detail than with charcoal. I guess I have to keep on practicing.
Hope you like it!

That white pastel looks great on it. It was an excellent idea, and that toned paper... Amazing ^^. It looks like a really simple portrait, but thanks to all that it looks kind of unique ^^ And you've got an other drawing like this too? Well, I've got to see that :> *runs off*

Thank you so much for your words. Glad you like it, I thought I had to add something to my drawings so I tried the toned paper and white pastel, and it's a lot of fun!
Well, the other drawing is even simpler than this one, I'm not used to charcoal so it has less detail

You know, sometimes the drawing just HAVE to be simple. When there's too much details it can be kind of wrong too, you can't focus your sight on one, main thing and you're just overwhelmed by it. And the artist can be overwhelmed by it too - when he's like "gosh, it should be more like blah blah blah", and then get angry. It's tiring and the whole fun is lost, that's why I think it's more about enjoying drawing than trying to make it too perfect ^^. Sometimes perfection can get boring as well, and sometimes you just NEED to make something absurdly unperfect with rough lines. Did you get my line of thinking? ^^
So it's nice to hear that you enjoyed it, and I'd like to see more of this kind of pieces from you :>.
I saw the other one too - and I have to say that it's beautiful as well, but it's lacking the contrast like the one you made here. Thanks to that it's more... distinct? Yeah. I think I used the right word (and screw the references. The final look matters the most^^)
It took me kind of long space... oh well, forgive me

I totally understand what you say. I also think the result of a work you've really enjoyed is way better than the result of a work you've forced yourself to do, even if you tried and tried to get it perfect. So, I agree.
Don't worry about the long space, I like talking to people about art
Anyway, thank you so much for your comments and nice words on my work!

Yea shes so talented. sorry for the late reply. it started snowing hard here.i had to move the launch into the boathouse.
I dont think Lindas finding it easy? shes had to take to giving online lessons to supplement her income? off the record i think its the recession. Art is seen as a luxury by the middle classes or bourgeoisie.
Ah so . people are getting back to basics.
I have a friend who owns an art gallery in Uckfield in sussex ( thats uk) He had to let out the upstairs storerooms as a small apartment. He says he is not selling as much for 12 months.

I also think it's the recession... things are really hard for artists (well, and for everyone in general). The number of commissions I get now is way lower, many people ask but when you say the price, they back down...

Ja its amazing!! in such a short time money has dried up!! I think many artists who are not " established" are finding it hard.. Aprt from the price of materials now..( it hurts to buy ther best materials) I use amazon here in germany. but the choice is limited.....( im not sure but i think germans here in bayern arent that keen on art?) Probably cos there more intersted in higher tech . math etc etc...
I used to live near Tracy Emin ( same town) I met her a few times....i could tell you some very funny stories. but not here.
Did you hear about that guy who copied her work?? Then sold it on ebay for knock down prices of a few thousand euros?? ha ha ha.. realy not that funny.. but i did smile im afraid.....He got caught and went to jail..this is a true story and happened recently...Tracy said that his work was inferior and trashy?
My cousin said he couldnt tell the diffrence???
ok cheers.
