Sin (pronounced sign, complete spelling is sine), cos (cosine, but in this case pronounced 'cause) and tan (tangent) are the 3 basic trigonometric formulas for right angle triangles. Sin theta= opposite/hypotenuse, cos theta=adjacent/hypotenuse and tan theta=opposite/adjacent. I only say that because there is something that you can say to help remember those. SOH CAH TOA
