The child looks a bit unhappy. It's a face I would call "leave me alone".
This is cute, I can't deny
Concerning the shot itself, I don't like the background on the left. It is so light, that it has a very similar color to the face of the child. That is not very bad, but a bit strange

I tried to create the atmospehre by over exposed a bit.
that's made the tender feeling combining with the pose and the love they show eachother.
a bit more dark shot would ruin this atmosphere IMH.
