Description I was doing some warm ups today, and i figured I should try drawing Gil a little more. So as I started drawing, I thought to myself, "I wonder what Gil could look like in a few years." So I started drawing, but as I sketched him out, I realized that his current state of being is kind of split between the person he wants to be, and the person he thinks he needs to be. So I decided to draw the two versions of himself. Before I knew it I had come up with some hypothetical backstories as to how the two of them became who they were. This is all hypothetical though, so I'm not even sure if some of these things would be possible, but I just think it'd be kind of cool.(I took a lot of liberties here, but then again who cares since it's all fictional.)

The one on the left, is the person he wants to be. A good, kindhearted person who helps those in trouble. He wants freedom and adventure, and to be freed from all of his emotional torment. Although he was hesitant to continue studying healing magic, he forced to self not to relinquish all his progress and to continue down the path of a great healer. As time went by he learned and developed powerful new spells, and under the training of a powerful luminary, he managed to apply everything he knew into combat magic as well. He had become somewhat of a paladin, and was quickly becoming a legend among healers for his combatative approach to holy magic. He has long left his job and now travels the land, grouping up with adventurers and soldiers to provide a helpful hand in battle and in healing, all for a fee of course. After coming to terms with the loss of his family, he becomes closer to his estranged brothers and sister. Time passes and he finds some one he can call his own. The two of them marry and have a child whom they discover is bound to be a luminary. A few years pass, and the world is put in danger by a massive slayer invasion. He leaves his home in order to help and protect those he cares about. The battle rages on around him, but his mere presence on the battle field is enough to turn an entire squadron into an unstoppable force. The war ends and he goes down in the history books as a great hero. And the only person in history to develop a spell that allowed him to bring himself back to life.

The one on the right faces a much different history. Gil always had a deep and powerful hatred for slayers, and it slowly began to consume him. Unable to find some one who could help him forget his loneliness, he began to isolate himself from the few friends he had. He began searching the world for ancient tomes, visiting teachers, and fighting with experts, anything that could help him become stronger. His holy magic was unlike anything anyone had ever seen before, instead of healing and empowering others, Gileas's magic, was destructive a fierce. His strength rivaled even luminaries. One day as he attempted to clear out an entire Slayer nest by himself, he was bitten and had become infected.Using his extensive knowledge of magic, he managed to craft a special inhibitor which would slow the spread of the infection, but it would not stop it, and he knew that he would either have to find a cure or slowly let himself become that which he hated most. He kept travelling, looking for clues to something that might be able to help him. He even asked help from the luminaries, but they found him to be too much of a liability and tried to have him incarcerated. They would promise him help but he found their words empty and escaped from andromeda. As time when by the infection had begun to spread faster and it had claimed his left eye and arm. His mind began to wander, and he often found himself acting primal and uncontrolled. He began to fear that he would lose himself before he was turned completely. Suddenly, he is approached by a slayer, who was by all means conscious and in control of herself. She offered him help but he refused. Weeks passed and his condition worsened and one day he collapsed from exhaustion. He awoke in a slayer nest, the female slayer, speaking beside him. His feelings of anger and malice had disappeared, and he could feel himself in control. She nursed him back to health, and cared for him. Eventually Gil forgot his hatred for slayers and became infatuated with his caretaker. Eventually Gil is overtaken completely be the illness, and becomes one of her generals. Standing faithfully by the side of the woman he loved.

BOTH OF THESE ARE SO BAD ASS I'M GOING TO HAVE A SEIZURE.
Design wise and background wise, these are both so detailed and well thought out and interesting and I hope Gil finds a long lost twin so they can both happen.
