Description
This is for 's monthly contest, the theme this month was "elements" and I couldn't resist being a little toungue-in-cheek about it.I spent a lot of time on Autor's boots, so you better appreciate! Once I had flattened the image and done everything else I moved it over to MS Paint to work on them, I haven't sprited in a while so it took forever.
Choosing who was which classical element was a bit tough, both Fakir and Rue have passionate personalities, both Mytho and Ahiru can be air headed, both are also aquatic bird so either would have fit for water, Rue is also a bird and so could have worked for air as well. In the end I rather like going with the elements I chose for them, their costumes match their eyes. I chose yellow for air because it seems so silly to have blue be two different elements and yellow is a nice, light, airy color. I also have personal issues with representing earth with plants but since Fakir turned into a tree in one episode (omigosh, spoilers you gais!) it seemed most fitting that he'd end up dressed as Puck.
Princess Tutu and all related characters belong to Ikuko Itoh
If you want to read more about why I went with this toungue in cheek idea and some of the rage that feuled this you can read it in my latest journal, which is all about the four classical "elements" [link]

Most schools want traditional media though, unless I'm in a Photoshop class or something. And it would feel wrong to do that, new pieces for new assignments! Force myself to produce more art! I can do it!
Yeah, an art degree isn't going to do much but I genuinely want to learn. I want to take more anatomy classes, I have so much trouble with it! D:

Agreed - on all of it, for myself too. Though I think you're great with anatomy, but that's in the eye of the beholder I'm really bad with it. In people and animals. I do better with plants, flowers, and trees.

Well, I have taken one anatomy class already and my art changed drastically after that, I started making human-looking humans. XD But I still have a lot of trouble with faces, there was a whole class for just heads/faces at my old school and I desperately wanted to take it but I didn't have the time. It's such a pity.

Agreed. I never took anatomy. I probably should have.

BRILLIANT! I love everyone's costumes--particularly Water and Earth (lol Fakir's a tree again)--but I'm biased so my favorite, of course, is poor nerdy Autor...

The poor nerd, he's always so left out!
This was so much fun to make, I couldn't help giggling on the inside the whole time I was working on it, even when my hand started cramping. XD Thank you very much for the fav!

Oh my god, that's hilarious! XD Great concept. And I love what you did with it. They all look adorable and Autor's mistake is LOL-worthy.
Also, it seems that Fakir can never escape trees. LOL

The best thing to do with something that irritates you is to turn it into funny art! I was worried a little about how everyone's proportions turned out, I used the same basic skeleton I use for my regular, round, chubby chibis but I wanted everyone to have thinner limbs and bodies to show off their costumes and ballet poses (even if only two of them are actually in ballet-ish poses) so they came out kind of lanky and not-chibi looking. I'm glad the result works though, thank you! Especially for the fav

Love it! Especially Fakir's "tree costume", and of course Autor's nerdy mistake XD

Fakir will never escape being a tree!
Poor Autor, he's not even a science nerd! He should know what they mean! But you have to give him credit for putting so much effort into his costume.
Thank you very much for the fav!

You're welcome!

As a music nerd he should already be familiar with the Romantic movement and the many songs that feature mythological concepts, especially music for ballet since there's a ballet division the next building over!
I don't know where the spriting idea came from but once I had it I knew I had to follow through, the version of MS Paint that comes with Windows 7 is missing some of my favorite spriting tools! D:

Exactly! Though I think Rachmaninoff might be later than him.... A 20th century Romantic if there ever was one. (They never exactly specify when PT happens...Disney Time, probably XD ) I bet he could expound at length about Beethoven being a transitional force between Classical and Romantic, and the differences between his pre-Romantic pieces and everything that came after. I always wondered who his favorite composer would be?
It's a fun detail, and one I appreciate!

Since there are early cars here and there and since Nijinsky's career lasted from 1910-1920 I always assumed it was around that time. But yeah, Disney time. XD
We really don't find out a lot about Autor throughout the bit series he's in, and it's quite sad because I think he would have been an interesting character to find out more about. His non-ballet background in the midst of all the dancing and twirling and magical stages appearing out of no where could have been an interesting contrast to everyone else just throwing themselves into it without question.

I don't remember cars...where were they? But yeah, they appear to have electricity, but no TVs or computers, and I don't even remember any radios.
There are so many interesting characters in that series, that it would be a million times longer if we focused on all of them. Frankly, I wanted to get to know Mytho as Siegfried, to know how he is with a whole-heart, and what the Raven's blood teaches him in the longer run. I would have liked to have seen more of all the characters, but I do still adore the way the series was paced and handled.
I absolutely love that every time they have one of those balletic fights/confrontations, the whole thing turns into a surreal ballet production, as though this could all take place within an actual ballet. And with the music in the background setting the tone...it fits. It's just...so cool!

I can' only remember one scene with a car specifically, it was early in the series and was used for one of Edel's entrances.
There were a lot of interesting characters! I feel kind of sad with how the manga turned out, it would have been a great platform for exploring a lot of them. I especially would have loved to see what Siegfried is like compared to Mytho.
I want to see it turned into a ballet production! I doubt it'd happen but I'd adore if it did.

I remember something...but I always thought it was a carriage. I'll have to look for that again....
I had hoped the manga would delve more into Siegfried...maybe be an "after-series" story or summat, but yeah, I didn't like the manga. Some pretty art, but....
OMIGOSHYES. Do you hear me, Universe? I want a live-action PT ballet production-thingy NOW!!

Poor Autor, he's so left out. He's always kind of the odd one out so this kind of thing must happen all the time when the cameras are off. I'm just lucky he has glasses, I can hide how unsure I am about his reaction. XB
