Created in order to fill the ranks of the dragonarmies of the Dark Queen Takhisis, the generals of the dragonarmies generally used draconians as shock troops. They are not natural creatures of Krynn. They were created from the eggs of metallic dragons and humans using dark magic called the corruption ritual. These rituals were carried out by Dracart, a wizard of the Black Robes, WyrIlish, a priest of Takhisis, and Harkiel, a dark-hearted red dragon.

One egg yielded dozens of young draconians. depending on the color of the dragon egg the draconian can be one of 5 types: Aurak, Baaz, Bozak, Kapak, and Sivak. With different abilities and magic some draconians can even fly.

However, Harkiel also had a wicked sense of revenge and conducted several experiments with the evil chromatic dragon eggs combining their dragon essence with that of Orc's hoping to create a new type or shock troop not overly smart and easily managed, but fortified with the magic and heartiness of the chromatic dragons. Thus giving rise to Gorrashh Grizzwarr one of the first and only Azurak draconian, but to the astonishment of Hakiel, Gorrashh had both intelligence and a great affinity for magic. He is very adept at channeling lightning into his twin long swords and using it as a force to strike or repel attacks. He soon threw off the reins of dragonarmy generals and became a mercenary working for whoever had the most steel. He befriended a rogue crystal dragon named Waterford and the two became a legendary force on many a battlefield all over Krynn.
