"1895. Let that be our personal code for the next time we meet."Sherlock and Ghost in the Shell is a crossover I'm still waiting to happen. In the meantime it's eating my brain. Also, I rewatched Innocence a few days ago and this has always been one of my favourite scenes from that film.
This could be a post-Reichenbach scenario where Sherlock's original body is crushed when he jumps, and his cyberbrain is transferred to another body. (Changing bodies would also make disguising a hell of a lot easier and more thorough.) 1895 becomes a sort of a codeword for John and Sherlock to identify each other in the event that they meet again, the way 2501 works for Batou and Motoko.
