Thankies a bunch sweetie My sigma macro lens would have been able to get a lot closer than the 50mm but it was all I had on me at the time :/

ahaha! I'm not sure how to answer that ^^" I guess I got lucky with the focus since I used a 50mm f1.8 on auto-focus and it can be pretty unpredictable with auto-focus. With such a low f stop and my canon 1000D having a low 10 megapixels I personally suprised myself XD Colour wise it was taken in my friends garden next to some lovely pink/purple flowers.

this is so beautiful - the colour of the ladybird, such a rich red its almost purple! how do you get the really out of focus background but the really harp focus on the leaves and ladybird? lol sorry im a total photogrpahy nOOb

well I took this with the 50mm F1.8 - the reason this particular shot with that particular lens gives any image such a good depth of field is due to the F stop being so very low.

pfft! The F stop is the appeture setting; it helps to increase the brightness/darkness of an image, how sharp it is and thus the depth of field.
