Description
Ray was painfully unoriginal. So I tried to make him less unoriginal. His new form is basically half Western, half Easter dragon. I may touch up his characteristics and possibly colors, but I'm pretty solid on my decision that this will be the new Ray. No more generics!Art and character (c) narkro555

I never know what to put for any of those ratings except maybe technique...
I like doing these critiques, because the art gets better each time. This time you clearly worked on the feet, which show a good understanding of perspective/foreshortening. Some of the toes look a little out of place (considering the floor plane), like the inner most toe on the front leg closer to the viewer. But it's nothing major.
There's also a slight error in the placement and angle of the opposite eye, but again, this is something that many artists have difficulty with. Given that the left eye is at an angle, the right eye should also reflect that. The state that it's in makes it appear as though, from a straight-on view, the eyes would be asymmetrical (kind of like this: - /)
The third thing I'd like to talk about is something I think is essential for any artist looking to improve the aesthetics of their works. Another deviant sent me this presentation: meet59138187.adobeconnect.com/β¦
Around 3 minutes in, he starts to go over certain things to avoid, such as repetition of shapes/repeating patterns/parallel lines. Like the example he used with the hair, varying the size, shape, and angle of lines will make a large difference in how aesthetically pleasing your drawing looks. I noticed that in this piece, you depicted the mane as having short, repeating strands that are of very similar size and shape. This gives it a sort of spiky, unnatural look. I think giving the hair a varying, "random" flow would benefit how this image looks. You could look at how I drew the mane as an example I suppose, although I wouldn't call myself a hair-drawing expert per se, hahah. I try to make the direction, size and angle of hair flow as diverse as possible.
Studying and using references of real hair can help a great deal.
I hope this helps!

I made his wing folds red in both pictures I did
How can I have missed that twice? SorryΒ Β
My personal idiocies aside, you've improved especially on the feet this time. I'm guessing that it helps a lot more when you see how I draw it than if I try to explain it (like what I said in the last critique... I didn't know how to put it into words). I'll do a more in-depth critique later. Also, love seeing you submit stuff!

Actually, that's an issue on my part for not specifying, sorry. It was the most logical thing for you to do, don't worry!
And thanks! Your help is always wonderful. You've done a lot for me and I'm eternally grateful.
