Description
To purchase this image as an exclusive limited edition print please visit my website @ WWW.NATEZEMAN.COMTwo eagles (and a bunch of ravens) fighting over a dead bison calf. The carcass of the mother was about 50 yards to the left. Kind of a sad scene, but nothing goes to waste with animals.

Amazing! So are you lucky or do you camp for long periods of time waiting?

well the carcasses usually last a couple days so I made sure to stop back from time to time to see what was feeding on it. Theres always some type of animal at a carcass

Nice shot! I like this... It has a nice (and sad:/ ) little story too. The picture tells a classic story about the hard life in the wild.
Nice work Nate

the motion in this shot is unreal. great shot. i love the juvenile bald eagle. those wings are amazing. i had never seen a raven before until i went to the grand canyon. i was totally obsessed with them. i took so many pics of them. people were probably driving by thinking, ummm, the grand canyon is behind you why are you taking pics of birds idiot? hahaha. i just had no idea how huge they were. another beauty nate.

Haha I had the exact same thing happen to me! I hadn't seen a raven before I went to the Grand Canyon, so when I went, I totally geeked out and took a TON of pictures. They are BIG birds!

i totally freaked out. i have some shots in my comp. that aren't the best in the world, but i never deleted them cuz i'm still to this day amazed at how big those birds are! i'm glad i'm not the only one this happened too. were people looking at you like an idiot too?

haha yeah ravens normally look huge, until you compare them to an eagle

i saw people driving by looking at me and i just laughed cuz i know they thought i was an idiot. i could see soem adults flying to their nest and i could see the juveniles, but not good enough to get a photo, but they were just so cool to watch. our local zoo has a bald eagle and its huge. we also have hawks and vultures locally. but it would be something else to see an eagle flying free. it must be amazing.

i can see why. do they fly free in your area? i recently found something on the net about a bald eagle who had her beak blown off by a gun & some professionals who were donating their time to build & reattach a new beak. her photo was heartbreaking. the whole top of her beak was gone. i hope it works cuz she was a real survivor.

Some of my favourite birds all in one shot!
We mostly have crows where I live, though I do see the occasional raven or eagle if I'm lucky. I always have to stop in the middle of walking and stare at them like an idiot.

Such an interesting perspective actually! Normally people think of Bald Eagles as soaring over the river to pluck up fish, but even these icons know when to settle for less

Ravens are HUGE! Heh I knew they were big... guess I never realized just how big
Anyway, excellent shot. Very actiony, and I like that it shows the less majestic and awe-inspiring side of bald eagles... people like to picture them nobly perched on a cliffside, or powerfully swooping to catch a fish, but they really are just great big scavengers, seagulls at heart

haha yeah they look tiny compared to the eagles though
