While exploring the terrain outside of its den, a red fox kit has a conflicting look in its eyes. The young fox's natural curiosity is at odds with its instincts to be cautious. At only a few weeks old, this baby fox is new to the outside world, away from the comfort and safety of the den. At times a little re-assurance is needed. A gentle nuzzle from mom is all it takes to give this kit the courage to go bouncing off with its four siblings.

What a great capture - I wish there wasn't this one glowing grass stalk going across both faces - well, actually two, one across the cheek and one across the muzzle - that's quite distracting to me. Other than that, really a once in a lifetime shot, wonderful work - like always!

Beautiful in every way. I love it! How close were you? May I ask what kind of camera did you use? I am on a quest to get my own photo of the foxes that live about 70 yards from my house and I was just wondering.

I visited your website and looked at the photographs, and I just wanted to say that you are an excellant photographer! Every picture took my breath away. You should consider yourself lucky to have visited all of those amazing places in your photos. Do you make your living off photography? Or is it more of a hobby? Either way, your photos are extraordinary.

Nate can I tag along in your suitcase? PLEASE??????? LOLOL Seriously, the lighting in this shot is gorgeous! I love the amber hues. It must take forever to get some of these photos. The right moment the right time of day. Thanks so much for all your hard work and posting them for us who will never get to see these types of things live. I know a lot of this is timing but there is a considerable part that is art. You are a true artist.
