Toothless Custom Plush

PROCESS
Toothless is made from black minky, with faux leather wings and fins, polymer clay spikes, resin eyes and painted scales.

His pattern was designed by me and his head was made with a foam sculpted core. Each spike was hand sculpted and attached. His wings have wire in them so they are slightly posable. He is 34" from nose to the end of his tail.

Please do not ask for the pattern, under no circumstance will I be giving it out.

COMMENTS
Well it's been 5 months now and I'm still house hunting XD. Hesitant to take more commissions right this moment so spent the good part of this week making this cutie! I think it's a plushmakers duty to make a Toothless at one time or another, and I still hadn't had a go yet! I thought now was a better time than ever to have fun taking my own spin on him.

Originally I was going to make him out of faux leather, but after finding it near impossible for me to get fine facial details with it, I switched to minky instead. I made an effort not to make him a monstrous size to save my sanity, but saying that with that huge tail of his he is nearly as long as my desk haha.

I had a blast making all his spines, and I adore the effect they make even if they are slightly more fragile. My favourite part would have to be painting his scales with 3d paint though, it just brought him to life. I look forward to making more of these in the future and working towards making them even more show accurate. It was a great learning experience.

For those who have asked in the past I am now accepting toothless commissions, though only a restricted number per commission batch to avoid being swamped for requests for him. He's quite tiring to make so I wont be making him very frequently. I will offer a more cuddle friendly toothless with minky details instead of clay and faux leather ones for commissioners. This guy is definitely more for display.
