After reading the comic for this I couldn't help but think how hilarious it would be to do a spoof off of Cops for the pony Castle Guards. "At around 12:45 we had a disturbance occur in the throne room. We hate to have to take the hard route but when you have to deal with magical beings like Discord or Chrysalis you have to take each call seriously. Luckily there was only the Princess's desert that was the casualty..."

Well it's not necessarily show canon, horse chamfrons come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Nightmare Moon's chamfron doesn't have a a horse hair chamfron on it (if it is even horse hair). As an FYI, the reason why they were mainly a thing in historical contexts was because of the reverence of horse gods... and is probably the case for the MLP canon seeing as ponies worship the princesses as powerful, almost god-like beings, which is probably why Nightmare Moon doesn't have a chamfron with a hair crest on it seeing as she apparently doesn't answer to a higher power. Also, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash's chamfron helmets during the crystal empire episodes didn't actually have setted hair crests either, rather they had slots for their own manes, as to whether or not that means anything is up to interpretation.
